Selections from the
Ida Rose Antique Clothing Collection

--------------------
From the 1870s comes this intricately designed 2-piece maroon
and beige silk gown. Front and back views show the attention to
detailing of this very tiny-sized dress that would have belonged
to a lady of means and social position.

----------------------------------------------
The green and pink patterned silk bustle skirt is from the 1880s.
It would have been worn with a silk high-necked blouse. If this
outfit were cotton, the average person would have owned it, but
silk makes it upper class.

------------------------------
Civil War era black silk top with gold silk lining would have
been worn with a silk, high-waisted skirt. There are 8 hook and
eye closings. The top is formal wear, so it may have been worn to
a dance or evening event, making the owner one of South Plainfield's
wealthier families.
