white beaded trim on navy blue inserts. Its style is very upper class
for the time.

example of Edwardian style. Appropriate for the upper-class woman,
perhaps wealthy merchant or doctor's wife.

1880s cream-colored wool two-piece dress is winter wear for a
wealthy merchant's wife or doctor's wife. The lace collar and
cuffs make it afternoon wear. This dress is from New England.

Rust-colored taffeta gown with soutache, very Edwardian (circa
1905) was likely worn by a lady of wealth or social position to
greet afternoon callers. It is elegant enough to be worn in the
evening for dinner or social events.

Teal and pink patterned morning robe or housedress from the 1890s
is trimmed with black velvet and large black buttons. Lining is a
herringbone patterned fabric. It is local to the Plainfield area.

The 2-piece ensemble from the 1880s is beige-colored horsehair net
over silk skirt. Ruffled bodice, cuffs and hem, accented with deep
purple ribbon, perfectly accents the lilac-colored striped silk
underskirt. Worn to afternoon get-to-gethers and church.
