2001-2002 Senior Microbiologist/Shift
Lead � Walter Reed Hospital, Silver Spring, MD.
Responsible
for overall maintenance of DNA laboratory for classified project
regarding national security. Managed 3 to 4 individuals who verify and
approve PCR analysis data.
Assured a sterile environment and quality control of lab equipment and
PCR
reagents. Utilized Real-time PCR using Taqman probe analysis with the
Cepheid
Smart Cycler. Received and archived biological samples using barcode
scanning
technology. Performed silica bead/TE DNA extractions and Centri-Sep
spin
column sample clean up. Also troubleshot lab and technical issues.
2000-2001 Forensic DNA Analyst � The
Bode Technology Group, Inc., Springfield, VA. Performed forensic
casework, sample preps and DNA extraction in a high throughput setting
on criminal offenders
and rape kits. Responsible for PCR amplification, sample/gel/instrument
set-up,
gel loading, and analysis. Company recently cited in New York Times
article
for processing the most samples of all companies involved in analysis
of
World Trade Center samples.
2000 Research Assistant
- Dr. David Hurst, Farmington, ME. Researched and collected data
for published paper on allergies and the effect on the ear.
