Appearance: An orange furred dog with droopy ears and untamed hair, standing roughly 3 feet 2 inches. He’s a bit on the chunky side, and compared to most raiders looks…well…wimpy. Hype dons a blue backpack at all times, often loaded with compression rings to hold more items. He’s often seen wearing a pair of green goggles and a belt across his belly with many small pockets along the inside lining. He’d seem like a fairly normal orange dog boy, until one gets to know him.

Personality: Inquisitive, intuitive, and childish in all the wrong places. His outward persona comes off as that of any normal child, but when push comes to shove he can be one of the more level headed raiders. Like most canines he possesses an underlying sense of loyalty. And like most dogs he tends to bark and bite before thinking the situation through- Especially if it concerns dangerous ‘last ditch’ attempts, usually pertaining to magic taboos.

History: Very little is actually known about Hype’s past. Spending his early days in station square, Hype was actually orphaned and raised by an elderly human woman. From her he learned right from wrong, and how to enjoy his time as a “life-long student.” From a few years of public schooling, Hype gained an uncanny thirst for knowledge (almost to an annoying extent). He joined the Raiders at age sixteen, carrying with him the ability to create stones through a series of circular drawings and ample concentration. Later on through his own studies he learned this to be a form of alchemy, and he held the keys needed to perform the lost arts thereof.

...However.

With dabbling there comes risk. Hype made a grave mistake during his studies and attempts at self improvement. He’d tampered with the summoning of a dark-based sprite, and ended up with a mental corruption so deep that a second personality formed inside his mind. He dubbed the entity Goth, and eventually Goth gained power and became a sort of alter ego. At first, Hype would delve into this dark power and use it for good… that is, until Goth decided he’d prefer control. From then on there was a power struggle in Hype’s body- He’d shift both mindset and form until his body could no longer take it.

So he split up with the entity. Gathering his strength, Hype actually forced Goth from his body-and through the experience his body regressed to that of a pup- roughly twelve years of age. Meanwhile, Goth gained his own body, stealing both Hype’s age and dominant traits. Goth had become a tall, masculine, velvety black fox- and Hype had lost his height, his tail, quite a bit of confidence.

Well, through the years Goth became tame. In fact, his relationship with Hype is so close; they actually call each other brother. Although Hype regrets losing his body and what power he had, he wouldn’t change what happened for the world. Those things can be earned back, he claims.

Now Hype works in the raider’s technology department, creating new tools, weapons, and vehicles. Though he still dabbles in magic and alchemy, he knows his own limits. As well, he’d rather not risk losing the little height he’s gained since then.

Notes: Hype is susceptible to influence. Though this makes him an excellent summoner and medium, it also makes him susceptible to darklings and other psychic phenomena. If he picks up a bad vibe, chances are something’s gonna go down.
