History: Jennifer Aegis is the daughter of Professor Mary Aegis, the founder of Aegis University and richest person on Tolaria. Their wealth comes from inheritance, as their family line is extremely old. To the public eye, mother and daughter are ordinary - albeit gifted - citizens. Jennifer is a child prodigy and has already finished her college course, specializing in computer applications with skills in software development..
The secret of the Aegis', however, is that they never existed.
'Aegis' is merely a surname created to make their lives more acceptable to the people. Both Jennifer and her mother are Lunari, the descendants of an ancient, powerful tribe that once spread all across Mobius. While few official documents remain acknowledging the existence of this tribe, the Raiders have met the Lunari first-hand and have verified Rave's bloodline.
Coming from such a privileged background had little effect on Jennifer, more commonly known by her nickname "Rave" (a name she earned during her party days in her early teens). Rather than learning the intricacies of a life of style, Rave's mother taught her combat skills with a variety of weapons, preferring the Sais above all else. Most of her other private education focused on the magical art of spirit summoning.
As she grew up, she witnessed all the strange events on Tolaria from a bystander's point of view. Mary kept her daughter from acting as it was not the right time to do so. Finally, when the Dark Lord Void launched his second attack on Tolaria and drove the people from Metropolis, Mary gave her daughter a single small crystal cube and told her to join the fight. Taking the artifact left to them by her father, who had vanished before her birth, Rave set forth to aid the rebellion against the Dark Lord.
After Void's defeat, Rave approached the Raiders and formally joined their organization. Not long after she joined the organization the island was attacked by a magical species called the Spirit Beasts. Rave proved integral to the banishment of these beasts as it was her Lunari heritage, accompanied by a series of visions, that led the Raiders across the world collecting artifacts that eventually led them to the Temple of Ages, the last Lunari colony. It was there that they were given the key to stopping the beasts by the Tolarian Planeswalker Urza and the Lunari head priest, Eldamri. Upon returning to Tolaria they were able to lock the Spirit Beasts away and return the previously exiled Tolarian refugees to their homes.
The Exodus proved stressful for Rave and she left the Raiders to pursue her education, needing some normalcy in her life. This period was punctuated by frequent visits to the Temple of Ages to receive more information on her Lunari heritage. During this time her mother became the primary financial backer of the Raiders after the organization received official recognition by the Tolarian government.
Eventually Rave began to grow uncomfortable with mundane life and began longing to return to the Raiders. At the same time the madman Karasu was terrorizing the city. Rave reapplied to the Raiders for status as a part-time agent and was accepted shortly after Karasu and his elder brother Advent were defeated.
Since then she has offered aid to the
Raiders whenever possible while continuing to study her Lunari heritage and
practice her summoning. As of 2008, she has gained the ability to maintain two
spirits - called furies - around her at all times: the air fury Cirrus and the
earth fury Terra.
