In mid July, I was driving to work, when I was involved in a near collision that was caused by my brakes.
I was on my way to work when I was coming upon a stop sign. So I lightly put my foot on the brakes and I heard this unearthly loud boom...the the brake pedal went to the floor. This wouldn't have been as scary if there wasn't a truck that was going through the intersection. After a few heart stopping driving manuvers I avoided an accident, and was left with a car whose braking system on the passanger front was destroyed.
A bolt had vibrated loose from one of two points where the caliper is attached to the front strut. So when the bolt fell out, and I hit the brakes...the caliper flew back into the rim, and punched a hole in the rim, actually ripping the caliper into five pieces. These rims were only three weeks old. Sniff sniff. |
