The Storm Mountain Holt sits nestled among high snowy peaks which are covered with at least a few feet of powder all year around. The mountains are huge, and the altitude which the Storm Mountain holt is at is quite high. However, the valley which spreads down below it is often rich with trees, streams and wildlife.

The small number of elves living in the Storm Mountain area is kept that way on purpose. The group is very secluded, and likes their privacy. They were the original travelers, fed up with even the smallest changes being brought by newcomers.

The Holt itself is mostly carved into the mountainside, in a series of small comforable and easy to heat caves. Some of it also leads outside, to small shaped trees where crafts are done. The entire inside is likely to change, at any given time, with the whim of the shapers living there. So used to these changes is the stone, that sometimes it seems to almost shape itself to fit whoever is nearest it.

The valley running south of the Holt floods in spring, and occasionally freezes over during a hard winter, but usually carries a large number of animals to hunt. To the north, there is nothing but more cold mountain peaks.

To the west, there is an area called Illusion Pass, where crossing the mountains is remarkably easy. It leads slowly to the Startree holt area.

In the southern area just west of the valley, is the edge of the Deer Folk's territory, and where they were first contacted by elves. That area is still a gathering place for both races.

To the east, is the passage to the First Holt, which takes more than a month to actually cross. It is through some incredible terrain, but is very dangerous.
