The Coastal Cliffs Holt is a south-facing area drenched with sun and surf. The Holt is built mostly within the tall main cliffside, hollowed out by stone shapers and watershapers alike. Several large storage and meeting dens are connected to smaller and deeper set areas. There are several ledges leading outside, and a tall spiral ramp stairwell which runs the whole height of the Cliff. Outside, there is a clever wooden elevator which operates on a simple pulley system. Other dens are scattered east and west (mostly west) along the whole face of the cliff. Also, there are several huts that house and are used for entertaining larger numbers of guests. The beach is partly sand (in front of the entrance) but also blends to pebbles and sharp stones on both east and west strips, and dwindles to sheer cliffs elsewhere.
Due south of the Southern Holt, the Coastal Cliffs holt is about as laid back and sufer-cool as it can get. The cliffs are high, breezy at the top. This Holt rests only about five or so days of steady travel south of the Southern border. There are some markers of shaped dolphins on the eastern areas, wolves to the north, and more dolphins to the west. The land to the north is mostly flat, with a pleasant space between most of the sub-tropical trees. It is actually fairly dry around here.
The open ocean can be seen but not directly reached from the beach, the bay which opens out to the ocean is enclosed by a crescent shaped sand bar. It is at the narrow part of that bar where the Holt's many water shapers get together every few eights and purify the water in the bay. Eventually it becomes salty again, so they must do this all the time. There are other water sources as well, though.
To the east, the Urai have their forest homes. The jungle begins to encroach rapidly, but before the eastern areas and the true jungle, there is another gigantic Fog Catcher forest.
On the west, the hills grow higher and the forest turns to tropics quickly. This Holt is used as a way station to the far southern holts of Tropics and Crater, as well as the short sea voyage to Storm Haven Isle. |
