It was nine forty-five. Eddie, Ziz, Char and Kelly weren�t back yet.
Moanna was pacing. �Where are they?�
Snow was beginning to fall.
�Mo, don�t worry about �em. You know when Eddie, Kelly, Char and Ziz go out together, they�re gonna be late, no matter what they do,� Seth said from the couch. �Just sit down and relax.�
�But it�s snowing now, Seth!� Moanna exclaimed.
�They�re smart, Mo. They�re probably on their way back now,� Robyn said.
�I hope so,� Mo replied.
Fifteen minutes later, the four came in the door, laughing and shrieking. Kelly had taken Char�s beanie and was holding it high above her head, saying, �Jump for it, Char!�
Eddie was teasing Ziz about her name. �Hey Zizzie!�
Ziz was shoving Eddie, saying, �Shut up!!�
Char crossed her arms. �I�m not jumping for my beanie, Kelly. Just give it back.�
�Come on, Char. Just once?� Kelly pleaded.
�No way, Kel! How dumb do you think I am?� Char said.
�Well then, you�re not getting your beanie back,� Kelly replied.
�If I beat you, I will,� Char threatened.
�Beat me with what?� Kelly asked.
�My board.�
�Doubt it�ll hurt,� Kelly scoffed.
�Wanna bet?� Char raised her board, ready to hit Kelly.
�Go ahead. Hit me. Bet you don�t even have the guts to do it,� Kelly said.
Char smacked her board onto Kelly�s arm.
Kelly grimaced in pain. �Char that hurt man.�
�Oh no, Kel! Did I really hurt you?� Char asked, worry filling her face.
Kelly grinned. �Nope. But here�s your beanie back. You have guts to hit a strong guy like me.�
�Don�t let your head get too big,� Ziz muttered sarcastically.
�Where have you guys been? It�s ten o�clock!� Moanna said.
Eddie bowed his head. �Sorry, Mom.�
�Shut up!� Mo exclaimed. �It�s snowing already and we were worried!�
�Sorry guys. We started back around nine-thirty but the snow got blinding sometimes,� Ziz said.
�Well are you guys okay?� Jenna asked.
�Yeah. Char lost her beanie, but she got it back.� Kelly laughed.
�I just found out we have a ten-thirty curfew,� Gavin announced.
�Ten-thirty?� Seth asked incredulously.
Gavin nodded. �That�s a little early for me.�
�Yeah, I know. This is supposed to be a fun trip,� Eddie said.
�I better be going to bed now.� Robyn got up and stretched.
�Yeah me too,� Jenna said.
After they had hugged everyone good night, Jenna and Robyn climbed the stairs to their room slowly.
�If we only have half an hour, then I guess I better start too,� Char said.
�It takes you half an hour to get ready for bed?� Seth asked.
�Yeah, we gotta wash our faces and stuff,� Ziz replied.
��Kay, good night you guys,� Char said, hugging Kelly.
�Char you know I love you, right?� Kelly said.
�Yeah, I think so. Love you too, Kel,� Char replied.
�Love ya, Ziz,� Kelly said.
�Love you too,� Ziz replied as she hugged him.
�I love you Eddie,� Char said when Eddie hugged her.
�Love you too,� Eddie answered.
The same hugs and �I love yous� were given to Seth and Gavin with a �Ditto� from Seth and �Back at ya� from Gavin.
After Ziz and Char had left, Seth said, �Man! How can you guys just say I love you to them like that?�
�It�s easy, Seth. You go, I-love-you,� Eddie replied.
�Yeah, but how can you say it when they�re not even your girlfriends or anything?� Seth asked.
�Cuz we do love them,� Kelly replied.
�Yeah-they�re like our sisters, man,� Eddie added.
Mo cut in. �Now, see-that�s what I like about you guys. You�re not afraid to show how you feel.�
�I wish I could be like that,� Gavin said wistfully.
�So do I,� Seth agreed. �Wow, look at the snow. It�s really coming down.�
�That could mean two things,� Kelly said, peering out the window. �Lots of fresh pow tomorrow or-�
�We�ll be snowed in,� Mo finished.
�Or both,� Eddie said.
�Let�s hope we�re not snowed in,� Gavin said, running a hand through his hair.
�I better get going,� Mo said. �Night, you guys.� |
