Catching:
Catching a frisbee seems so rudimentary that we rarely give it a thought. However, some basic points should be heeded by everyone. In these two blurry photos, Danny is making some excellent catches. Notice that he's using both hands to ensure he traps it. It might seem kind of lame to catch the disc like this, but making it a habit will make the player a more consistent catcher. Using one hand to catch what appears to be an easy disc has brought down many an experienced player. One-handed catches are good for defensive grabs and all-out efforts to reach the disc. All other catches, use two!

The catch could have been a little better in the first picture, though. This is because Danny is standing rather still. It didn't matter in this instance, but here is a play which was thwarted by some pausing:
Pete tosses an easy throw into some open space. It's actually curving towards Bill yet the Phlegm in the black shorts (Danny?) can easily get to it as well. It's a sure  thing.
The Phlegm plants himself to catch the disc. Cory from Clap appears out of nowhere and grabs it (a one handed defensive grab as mentioned above!) He was waiting behind the Phlegm for this to happen, watching to see where Pete was going to throw it, hoping it would be a nice easy steal...
A player is allowed to take a couple steps to allow himself to slow down after a catch. Now Cory from Clap has the disc, and is a couple steps ahead of his mark and has the whole field wide open.  Even if Bill had signalled to Danny that he was under attack, it would have been too late.

The moral of the story?

Always run to the disc.
