| December 6 Violent Phlegms 3 The Clap 7 Attendance: Everyone except Noriko and Ross. This game was a bit of an anamoly. Both teams went into it with roughly the same record - so why'd we lose? I spoke to one of the national team players (Mike Forbes) the next day, and he said, "It's too bad you had to play Cory's team before Christmas...he just wanted to get a game in before he gets shoulder surgery in the new year!" Should we blame our loss on the skill of the other team's star player? Not usually, but Cory is a fantastic player, and I had no idea he was playing on The Clap (according to my master list of teams). Hence my under-estimation of the team. Teamed with Clap captain Brandon, the league co-ordinator, and a couple of key women (Karla, and Colin's sister!) they became a force to be reckoned with. Their V-shaped offence was unique and it worked for them - we got our first curve-ball thrown at us and now we're ready for hardball. Check out the gallery! Danny is this week's star of the forum. We only scored a few points, and one of them was a typically incredible lay-out by none other than Fred Keenan. Unfortunately, we could only videotape a few minutes of the game, so there's not a lot of highlights - we'll have to remember this one in our hearts. Our quality of play was maybe down a little but at least we kept fighting and killed them with a great Christmas medley cheer. |
