Dante's Dreams is proud to accept submissions for the first issue tentatively scheduled for release in July 2008. We will consider literary criticisms (including film), poetry, short stories, all types of creative non-fiction, and art submissions.

What We Accept
We accept literary criticism (including film criticism), poetry, short stories, drama, all types of creative non-fiction, photography and art submissions.

We will consider a maximum of 6 poems, 1 short story, or one article per author during each publishing period. Keep in mind that, particularly in the case of prose, we are more likely to publish shorter works. Longer works may be broken into separate issues as serial stories.

Restrictions

We do not accept simultaneous submissions (works sent to us at the same time they're submitted to other publications) . By submitting your work, you affirm that you have the sole rights to your work and you give the Review the right to publish said work in Dante's Dreams . If we do publish your work, we are happy to share rights if you would like to have that work republished elsewhere. Also, we ask that submissions be made by SNHU students, faculty, and alumni only. While we would love to consider everyone, there simply isn't enough time.

The Submission Process

Please send your submissions to OnlineLiteraryGuild @ snhu.com in plain text or in Rich Text Format, in the body of your email. Someone will contact you about your submission within two weeks either rejecting your submission or inviting to submit your manuscript.

If your work is accepted for review, we then request the work to be placed in the following format:

  • Word .doc or Rich Text document
  • 12 pt, Times New Roman or Courier font
  • 1" margins
  • Edit your own work first! Be sure to spell check it, as well. The Elements of Style is a great book if you need a brush up.
  • All work must be submitted with a cover sheet. William Shunn has a great example here, and there is another great guide listed at WritingWorld.com.
  • To ensure that only work from SNHU students and recent alumni is included, we cannot accept anonymous submissions. In all cases we attempt to preserve this rule throughout the selection process. However, there is no possible way to guarantee absolutely blind submissions on every attempt. Therefore, all submissions are treated as anonymous.

Once we receive your work, it will go through a two-step selection process. First, a random group of editors reads the selections and grades them based on several factors (voice, style, topic, appropriateness to our readers, and talent). The grades are averaged and the top selections then go to the second group for a similar process, wherein the work receives its final rejection or acceptance.

As a small college publication, we are regrettably unable to provide personal correspondence over every submission. We will, however, do our best to offer real, substantial feedback on each submission.

We look forward to reading your work! Good luck!
