Welcome to the WED program! You have started such a wonderful program that is available for women of all ages! You will be amazed at the changes you will go through while in this program! When I first started the WED program I thought Man, I am WAY too old for this! And then it came time for my residency. What a joy it was to see women that were not only my age, but also older than I am. I thought O.k., I think I may be able to handle this! As the years have gone by, I have found that the staff and faculty of SMWC seem to be nicer and nicer every year. Inside you will find my personal biography, so you can get to know me better! Also, you will find the beginnings of a great and productive newsletter specifically designed for women that are entering the WED program. I hope that you will give me input and comments on the content of the newsletter. Let me know what you want to see more of and less of. After all, this is a newsletter for YOU, so I want to be sure you like it! Here is a question you may have: What exactly is a Mentor? A: A mentor is a helper. Mentors can offer friendship and support, as well as, pose challenges and share critical insights. My job as a WED Mentor is to help you through your first year in the WED Program. I was chosen because I have been in the WED Program for awhile and understand the workings of the program. I decided to be a Mentor because I wish I had someone there to answer my "silly" little questions!! (Like, where do I go to take the math test? Where is the bookstore? When is the bookstore open? What do I do with all of these books??? Just to mention a few!) Again, WELCOME TO THE WOODS!! |
