Since its inception about
two decade ago, Shajaratun Muntazirah has been confronting
internal issues and concerns along with the external ones. Social, academic,
emotional, and spiritual pressures on the individual muntazirin, not to
mention their perennial quantitative handicap, are considerably affecting
the growth of the Tree.
A recurring point of pressures imposed by the existing environment is some
fellow muntazirin's removal of their head-cover. In issues such as this, it
is lamentable to note that a number of fellow muntazirin is most ready to
express value judgment and at times, sheer contempt. Concerned sisters,
consequently, would receive lukewarm treatment, if not total or partial
ostracism.
Instead of closing our doors of acceptance, why should we not spread our
wings of empathy and understanding? Remember, the concerned sisters are not
living in a vacuum in the same manner that we don't. They live in a society
full of cruelty in its broadest sense. Remember, we have religious duty
towards them as we have towards one another. We are supposed to extend our
helping hands in whatever appropriate manner. Supplication (du'a) for
consistent guidance of us all is the least form of help that we could
be able to extend.
In sum, it's understanding that they need, not condemnation.
