Salam brother,
This is only my commentary and reaction
to your response to a 'not-so-thoroughly-research material' that is either
left as a means to spite, or just plain lack of scholarly background. Well,
we must not be so shocked about this because the Christian world have
produced thousands of literary documents for a thousand years just to
discredit Islam and the Prophet! These were not only written in English but
French, German, Dutch, etc. It is very profound of you to be able to come
with corrections, lest these things and other publications in the past are and
were left uncorrected. In today's global reach of media, we the Muslim
literati must not allow ourselves to just pass things as they are for the
next great battle is no longer in the warfronts which we are became famous
for, but rather in the media and the IT. We must no longer allow ourselves
to just wallow in our beliefs that let them be coz' we are just the 'truth'
anyway, is already a worn out cliché. So keep it up and continue the
struggle in correcting the ever-abusive and prejudicial media in the
Philippines.
With regards to xmas, the original
festival was in January 6 by early xstians but upon the conversion of most
of the Roman hierarchy and the appeasement of their former rituals, they had
changed the date to December 25, the Roman festival for the god Saturn and
bountiful harvest of Demeter. This 'saturnalia' was so famous that the new
xtian converts would never allow this festivity to be removed by the
Council of Constantine, so instead of removing it, it was just interspersed
with the so-called birth of Christ. So xmas at those times were in fact a
pagan festival promoted yet by another pagan emperor who was always believed
in history as a convert to xstianity, but rather a diehard follower of the
cult of Mithra common among Roman soldiers, known also as 'the sol ivictus'.
Constantine died invoking the lsat rite of sol invicta, homage to the sun!
With regards to the Koran, what the
writer wants to express is that it is well influenced by the poetical
exegeses prevalent in the 5th, 6th and 7th centuries exercising the greatness
of the Arabic language thru poetical verses. In fact at the time of the
Prophet, great festivals were held in honor of this Arabian contribution to
world literature. but again, the Koran stood as higher of them all for its
quality is unsurpassed up to this day!
Massalam alhamdullilah!

As-salamu 'alaykum, AA:
Thank you for your "commentary and reaction". As you will notice in my comment, I am not "shocked" of the "Christian world" having "produced thousands of literary documents for a thousand years just to discredit Islam and the Prophet". I was only surprise-stricken to read the said article being posted in the bangsamoro.com. But, al-hamdulillah, my suggestion for the site editor not to omit the article from the site but instead to post a corresponding comment with the aim of clarifying the true views of Islam on Jesus the Messiah has been generously granted, as you will see in the updated pertinent webpage: <http://www.bangsamoro.com/lit/ss_011004.php>. In fact, even my comment itself is also post in the site at <http://www.bangsamoro.com/columns/rr_01_19_04.php>.

“Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt. It befitteth not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should take unto Himself a son. Glory be to Him! When He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! and it is.” (Qur’an 19:34-35)
