Mission Statement

As Christian students in SMU, we strive to present
every student mature in Jesus Christ
by faithfully understanding, living and proclaiming the gospel.
SMUCF is  gospel ministry formed, initiated and run by Christian students.

SMUCF is a student-to-student ministry where we aim to reach out to every student, both believers and non-believers, in SMU.  We strive to help everyone understand the gospel, to be rooted, firm and built-up in it and hence to become increasingly Christ-like.
We understand the gospel by studying and hearing God's Word faithfully according to the biblical context.  In obedient response to the understanding of the gospel, we lead out lives where our daily attitudes, actions and speech are gospel centred and we actively tell the gospel of God to our fellow students in SMU.

Our Statement of Faith
1. We believe in that there is only one true God revealed in three persons…. Father , Son, and Holy Spirit
2. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
3. We believe...The Church has a Mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe 'the Church' is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ
4. The only way to salvation is through believing in Jesus the Christ
5. The final Judgment when Christ will return

Our Distinctives
1. Biblical Theology/ Gospel centred
SMUCF firmly believes in the authority of the gospel and that the gospel can be interpreted in itself, meaning that the true meaning of passages can be derived from understanding the whole gospel in the light of Christ.
And through this approach, we dwell into passages to help us understand why we have this ministry here in SMU.
2. Interdenominational
Our ministry is interdenominational in that we are a fellowship of Christian students from different denominations and churches committed to the common goal of reaching and nurturing students for Christ on campus. SMUCF accepts Christian students from all denominations into membership on the basis of their subscription to the doctrinal basis of our fellowship and also their commitment to the aims of the Fellowship.
3. Student-led
SMUCF is basically a church which consists of students and led by students. We believe in nurturing student leaders who are clear on the gospel, convicted of the truth and strive live a life of Christ likeness.
4. Partnership of the gospel worker and the executive committee
The gospel worker and the executive committee are partners in the Christ. The executive committee is the nominated committee which will oversee the running of the fellowship and the gospel worker will be hired by the staff oversight committee which is constituted by graduates elected by the then serving executive committee.
The executive committee recognizes the authority of the gospel worker in terms of his greater understanding of the gospel and maturity in Christ.
The executive committee, however, has all legal authority with respect to SMUCF as a registered society.
