The How-to Section:
Rebuilding the Edelbrock Performance Series Carb
This article will show in limited detail what is commonly changed during a rebuild.

Tools needed for this job:
~ Two Flat head scew drivers. Medium and small
~ Set of hex wrenches
~ A crescent wrench
~ 1/2 inch deep socket and rachet.

You will also want a  place that is comfortable to sit and also a place that won't be disturbed by children or pets.

To Start remove the carb from the intake. You will want to take special notice of vacuum lines and linkages when removing. I would suggest at least draw a diagram. A polaroid works good also. Depending on your emissions, you may have more to remove than I did.
Remove the air cleaner and filter element. Then disconect the front vaccum line that leads to the vacuum advance. Also remove the rear vacuum conection that goes to the power brake booster. For this you will need the crescent wrench. Then remove the throttle linkage on the driver side of carb. Also remove the kick down cable from linkage. Or TV cable if you have a 700R4. You will need to remove the ground and power wire from the choke.  Last you will want to remove the fuel line that is connected to the passenger side of the carb. Once all these are removed and disconected. You can begin to loosen the 4 nuts that hold the carb to the intake. I would break them all loose then go back and remove each nut. This will allow the carb to release tension from the intake uniformly. This will help prevent warpage in the carb base. Now that the carb is pulled off of the intake. remove the old gasket and lay a clean shop rag over the intake hole and press the studs up through the rag. then lay the old gasket dwon over the rag and replace the nuts on the studs. This will ensure that nothing gets lost or nothing can get into the intake by accident. Having the carb off is like a doctor cutting open your chest. You wouldn't want to leave it expossed to any out side contaminents.

Now take the carb and rebuild kit to the area to be rebuilt. You will want a nice clean area. I used a table with a white cloth layed over it. that way nothing becomes invisible. You can not take enough precautions when handleing such small parts.
