Hayes was born here and I owned him until he was 17 mos. old.  He started showing me something when he was around 10 mos. old.  By the time he was around a year old I was hunting him by himself mostly.  He was going hunting good, working bad tracks and putting coons on the end of them.  Good locator and good treedog.  Accurate and independent.  The only real hole he had was a desire for deer.

I put him in 2 PKC hunts in the dead of winter while I had him and he won them both.  The first was where he treed in a hole and got some circle points.  Another dog was with him but had never barked.  All 3 other dogs on the cast scored nothing but minus in the hunt and they were all much older, more experienced dogs.  The 2nd PKC hunt was also against a couple older males.  One had done quite a bit of winning in PKC at that time.  The 1st dump the other 2 dogs loaded up on a tree that Hayes had already checked.  He went on.  He got treed about 100 yards away.  They had a slick and were minused and Hayes had a coon.  I put Hayes in a UKC RQE in Feb. in South Missouri.  He got struck in and we had a dog get treed deep and went to it and scored its tree.  I hadn't heard Hayes since he struck.  We eventually called time and he was scratched on the hour.  I got him back, several miles away, from some pleasure hunters leading him out of the woods.  I think he had some help getting that far away and was about to find a new home if I hadn't caught up to him.

Rob Wilken bought him shortly after that, did quite a bit of winning in PKC and put a couple UKC wins on him.  Troy and Blaise got him and made him GRNTCH in a total of 10 UKC hunts entered, including that RQE I put him in.  They also qualified him for the 2007 UKC World Hunt and hunted him at the 2007 Spring Superstakes, where he was the top B&T pup and won $2900.

Hayes, at 13 mos. of  age.  Hunting by himself, he worked a track up, and had 2 coons in this tree.
At just past 16 mos. old
At 11 mos. of age.  This was the first night he was hunted by himself and he struck a track and worked it to this big Sycamore. 
Hayes, at just past 4 mos. old.  Ran a drag track made with a coonhide and is shown treeing on it,  here.
At 4.5 mos. old.  He ran a very hot, short track, using his nose, located the tree, and treed with focus and intensity.  He had the coon.
