Below left is the 'Save the Date' email sent to our prospective guests to explain that we were having 2 weddings: a modern legal one, and an SCA one. We expect some will be happy and comfortable at only one of our weddings, and that's fine. More than anything, we want a happy atmosphere of comfortable people there to wish us luck.

Well, actually, save two. Or one. Depending on which wedding you'd like to attend.
Because being married once isn't enough foo-farah for us, we are throwing two different weddings 6 days apart.
The first wedding is Sunday afternoon June 4th, at Queen's Park in New Westminster, with the reception in the park at Centennial Lodge. This is the legal wedding, and will be attended by our families and hopefully our friends. We'll be wearing wedding clothes from about 1735, but we are calling this one our 'modern' wedding. The reception is an afternoon tea, with croquet and wine and cheese, and hopefully laughing and lounging about with good people.
The second wedding is the Renaissance one, held at an Society for Creative Anachronism or SCA event. It is Saturday June 10th, at Sea Lion War, and it's a marriage of our personas. This will also be in the Lower Mainland at a park in Aldergrove- see the details here. It will be a happy ceremony with a potluck feast to follow. We are encouraging musicians, tumblers, jugglers, ladies to lob flowers and all our SCA friends to attend and make this a festive and happy occasion.
Can you come to both? Yes. If you wish to attend the SCA wedding you need to wear an attempt at pre 17th century clothes. If you'd like help or advice on this, please get in touch with me. Will you come to at least one of our nuptials? Great- when we send the invitations please RSVP so we know we can expect you.
Do we want two presents? No, not unless you insist. Anyone who has helped us move knows we don't need anything! If you want to give us a present, that's lovely but most of all we'd like our families and friends to join with us to make these events happy and full of good memories. If you like, we do have a list of treasures we could give a good home to, and that's available here.
