Eric Brooks a.k.a Blade or daywalker is born in a hospital his mother was bitten by a vampire, she dies he lives. Blade grows up a hybrid half-human half-vampire, he has all of the vampires strengths he can regain health quickly he has super strength but unlike vampires Blade is able to withstand garlic, silver and sunlight. Blade unluckily also gained the thirst for blood which he suppresses with a serum, With these abilities Blade is out to get revenge for his mother death buy killing the things that killed her.....vampires.
Blade with the help of his life-long friend Whistler move from state to state country to country tracking and killing vampires. Whistler’s family was killed by vampires and for that Whistler began to hunt for revenge. When hunting and killing vampire’s Whistler came across Blade and took him for a vampire at first and almost killed him but he saw what he was and trained Blade to kill vampires and provided Blade with the serum to stop his thirst for blood.
Vampires try to be inconspicuous to the human side of the world to prevent trouble for their kind. Since vampires are unable to go out in the daytime they have human slaves who work for them and will one day be turned by their owner into a vampire, these vampire wannabes are called familiars. The vampires control most of the world including the police so even if some does try to report it then nothing will happen about the report. There are 2 types of vampire ones which are born to the parents of 2 vampires and those that are turned by being bitten and the vampire virus in the saliva infects the victims system entering through the wound.
Blade and Whistler are tracking Deacon Frost, a vampire which is trying to resurrect a vampire god, la Magra. Blade and Whistler do not know what Frost is up to and how he will resurrect this god. Blade tracks down Frosts supporter Quinn, Blade sets Quinn on fire in a nightclub full of vampires after working through a few of them first while the rest run away Blade staples Quinn to a wall and sets him on fire before the local authorities arrive. Quinn’s body is then admitted to the city morgue where he attacks Dr. Curtis Webb and Dr. Karen Jenson, Blade goes into the hospital to finish off Quinn moments after Quinn bites both Karen and Curtis and tries to run away but Blade stops him but he manages to evade Blade once more and runs off. Blade taking pity on Karen because she reminds him of his mother takes her back to his lair where Whistler tried to stop her from turning into a vampire. After treating her Blade returns Karen to her home, while Karen is packing her things to leave town a police officer working for the vampires (a familiar) come to see Karen about her disappearance for the hospital last night but he tries to kill her but Blade saves her and beats officer Krieger up, upon searching his patrol car they find some blood that officer Krieger is delivering to a vampire somewhere and when Blade tries to beat the information about the delivery out of him he manages to escape and run, Blades knowledge of vampires come to use and he knows officer Krieger will return for the cargo and to finish his delivery its only a matter of time so he keeps the car under surveillance. Officer Krieger returns and Blade follows him to a restaurant and underneath the restaurant is the vampire bible which is what Deacon Frost is trying to decode to find out about the vampire god “La Magra” and Blade also finds Pearl the record keeper of the bible and meets Frost for the first time via web cam on Pearls computer and after Blade and Frost have finished Blade removes the hard drive to pearls compute which contains the decoded version of the bible.
Karen is able to find a cure for the vampirism and able to treat herself and she also gives Blade a new weapon EDTA (ethylenediaminetetracetate), is an anti-coagulant which when it mixes with vampire blood explodes. While downtown collecting the ingredients for his serum Blade and Karen are attacked at their base by Frost’s men, they kidnap Karen and bite Whistler leaving him in a bloody mess for Blade to find as well as a video tape telling Blade to go to Frost’s apartment. With his last breath Whistler tells Blade that Frost Needs Blade’s blood to summon the blood god, and then Whistler tells Blade to kill Whistler before he turns into a vampire, Blade refuses and then Whistler asks for a gun which Blade gives him and then walks away.
While is at the apartment he is killing all of Frost’s guards and Blade walks into a room and finds his mother there, she explains that when she died she came back the same night as a vampire and while Blade is in shock he is stunned from behind by Deacon Frost and his men and put into the back of a truck with Karen and driven to a different location. Deacon Frost then leads Karen and Blade into a temple of some kind. First he sends Karen into a pit in the ground to be eaten by some monster and drags Blade along to a chamber. In the middle of a chamber is a vertical tomb, Blade’s mother straps Blade into the tomb and closes it meanwhile Deacon is downstairs sorting out the pieces of the prophecy he needs for “La Magra”.
Karen is in the pit where she was thrown by Frost and in there she meets the monster, its Curtis her old partner from the hospital when he got bitten he turned into a mutant vampire and Karen attacks him and using a bone she picked up of the floor she tries to climb out of the pit, meanwhile Blade trapped in the tomb is bleeding and the blood is leaking down to Frost below and the 12 pure bloods Frost needs to complete the prophecy, Blades blood drips down onto the head of the pure bloods and 1 finally drop falls to the centre of the temple onto the forehead of Frost where he rubs the blood over his face. Karen manages to escape the pit and frees Blade from the tomb but he is weak from the lack of blood, Karen insists that Blade should drink her blood to get his strength back and go and kill Frost. While Blade is drinking Karen’s blood the souls of the 12 pure bloods ripped apart the body of there owner and free them selves and fly around the round and then they all fly into Frost and his eyes turn red. Blade has finished drinking the blood and stands up and has to fight his mother who is trying to prevent her from getting to Frost, he ends up killing her with the bit of bone Karen used to escape from the pit, and then he goes after Frost.
He jumps down into the main part of the temple and Frost orders his men to attack Blade, Blade first kills Quinn and then starts killing all of the other vampires and then goes for his sword to aid him in his killing spree, after he reaches his sword and all other vampires are dead Frost calls Blade into the centre for a fight.
The fight and Blade wins he manages to cut one of Frosts arms off and cut him in half but Frost does not die, blood molecules reconnect Frosts top half of his body to the bottom and he re-grows his arm and has his attempt at attacking Blade, he runs around Blade really fast before appearing in front of him and hitting Blade to the floor. Whilst on the floor Blade spots the glass darts that are full of EDTA and he goes for them and throws them all into Frost except one which he throws into the air and kicks so it flies into the forehead of Frost and he explodes leaving Blade covered in blood. Then Karen appears and they leave the temple.
Blade is in Moscow doing what he does best……hunting vampires.
