3-31-05 a breeze through my window
suggests
fragrant meadows,
butterflies
dancing
4-1-05 a child on the floor
in
the bookstore couldn't wait
to
get his book home
4-2-05 April snow
after
spring has sprung
we
must move
4-3-05 large sticky snowflakes
I'm
completely white before
I
get to my car
4-4-05 snow is still melting
already
a fly buzzes
against
my window
4-5-05 the sidewalks are flooded
yet
so many people
are
outside walking
4-6-05 along the runway
three
geese in formation fall
hopelessly
behind
4-7-05 the sad news
tumbles
onto my feet
when
I get home
4-8-05 ants in the kitchen!
has
the snow melted for good?
is
it time to spray?
4-9-05 the bright light of spring
through
the naked trees at last
feels
warm on my face
4-10-05 the crunch of cinders
as
I jog this trail echoes
my
high school track
4-11-05 my eyeballs they ache
as
I pass a rare window
in
this dingy cave
4-12-05 the wind caresses
a
flattened road kill rabbit
lifts
a floppy ear
4-13-05 through bare budding trees
April
sunshine, the brightest
whitest
light all year
4-14-05 in my napkin
its
exoskeleton makes
a
satisfying pop
4-15-05 the flush of wine in
my
love's face, the source of warmth
inside
this tavern
4-16-05 the glare of summer
at
the end of the corridor
I
am a moth
4-17-05 at first glance
a
spider is nesting
in
the old man's eyebrow
4-18-05 I lift my window
fresh
summer air was pushing
to
get inside
4-19-05 to the moon
as
it speeds through space
I
am still
4-20-05 along the highway
a
candy wrapper snared by
blooming
daffodils
4-21-05 the dark wet branches
now
support a thin green veil
in
the morning mist
4-22-05 under each bridge
rain
against the windshield pauses
resumes
its patter
4-23-05 these snow flurries
surround
us even when we pass
under
the bridges
4-24-05 the valley ahead
a
glow smudges the night sky
our
destination
4-25-05 under the gray sky
blades
of grass reach up and beg
water
me again
4-26-05 the first bug this spring
cartwheels
off my windshield, leaves
behind
its juices
4-27-05 with the curtains drawn
my
love sleeps late; her fever
warms
the dark bedroom
4-28-05 along the building
debris
from the dumpster swirls
in
a springtime gust
4-29-05 chirping birds wake us
in
the darkness before dawn
do
they fornicate?
4-30-05 after April's rain
waves
of long green grass taunt me
get
out the mower
5-1-05 daffodils shake
in
the rough wind while tulips wait
patiently
to bloom
5-2-05 as she pulls the strings
her
hood draws tight, revealing
the
shape of her head
5-3-05 from on this rooftop
under
the clouds a blue sky
at
the horizon
5-4-05 I wake gradually
as
grey light seeps inside
before
my alarm
5-5-05 most ants I crush
this
one I washed down the drain
let
the water run
5-6-05 he steps from the crowd
to
study such awful art
he
must be farting
5-7-05 in a trampled meadow
white
flowers rise from the grass
delicately
5-8-05 the distant highway
disappears,
silent behind
trees
across the lake
5-9-05 through the woods ahead
near
home I see our flowering
ornamental
tree
5-10-05 out in the front lawn
beyond
our scaled-back garden
a
lone tulip blooms
5-11-05 the buzz against my screen
is
drown by the drone of
a
mower starting
5-12-05 I spray chemicals
the
weeds glisten one last time
as
if it is rain
5-13-05 at the meadow's edge
a
bumblebee clings to a branch
as
if winded
5-14-05 tender leaves of spring
wet
from this morning's drizzle
they
almost fluoresce
5-15-05 along the parkway
one
gnarled tree has no leaves yet
not
even buds
5-16-05 silhouettes of trees
against
the night's purple sky
bats
fly in between
5-17-05 where they cleared trees
a
sign names the subdivision
THE
SANCTUARY
5-18-05 through a crack in the clouds
evening
sunbeams fan out
on
birds skylarking
5-19-05 in the plant rafters
above
the hum of machines
a
bird is chirping
5-20-05 leaving the store
a
girl points to the evening sky
a
moon, mom, a moon
5-21-05 perfect sun shines on
our
chemically enhanced
garden
of eden
5-22-05 in every grain of
the
hardwood floor, the leg of
that
spider hiding
5-23-05 between the branches
of
these shivering trees I see
heavy
gray clouds
5-24-05 two mayflies attached
strike
the windshield, but our love
will
last forever
5-25-05 across the backyards
every
neighbor tends his grill
before
the sun sets
5-26-05 around the lilacs
a
cloud of electrons buzz
gathering
nectar
5-27-05 under warm moonlight
down
in the courtyard gardens
ratcheting
sprinklers
5-28-05 the farmer's bare earth
unplanted
this year, next year
house
will be built
5-29-05 in the dark of night
a
pale rectangle out back
our
tomato plot
5-30-05 a strong gust of wind
falling
helicopters fill
the
air around us
5-31-05 up in the treetops
beyond
the rooftops a bird
lifts
into the sky
6-1-05 in my dark bedroom
a
distant motorcycle
rips
into the night
6-2-05 that ant was so large
I
rolled my ankle and fell
trying
to squash it
6-3-05 excavators perched
along
the thruway hillside
bite
into the earth
6-4-05 emptied shot glasses
vibrate
while prawujek sings
and
plays his squeezebox
6-5-05 cottonwood cotton
swirls
in traffic then settles
like
slow falling snow
6-6-05 the tops of the clouds
in
the purple evening sky
last
to catch the sun
6-7-05 standing at her door
collapsing
my umbrella
cold
rain stings my neck
6-8-05 dry helicopters
rustle
in the empty street
my
love, where are you?
6-9-05 driving to my love
recently
it seem I hit
only
the green lights
6-10-05 by light of lighting
my
love's silhouette flashes
she
shuts the window
6-11-05 in the gentle mist
as
I water my garden
a
perfect rainbow
6-12-05 a story higher
than
the street's heat, a light breeze
cools
our balcony
6-13-05 the first drops sizzle
on
the afternoon asphalt
and
then the deluge
6-14-05 wind chimes jungle
outside
our window as we lay
in
bed cooling off
6-15-05 I scan the deep blue
empty
sky looking for clouds
looking
for haiku
6-16-05 through a gap in the clouds
on
the western horizon
at
last, sunshine
6-17-05 now the rain has stopped
and
drips slowly from the trees
let's
go for a walk
6-18-05 the thick cotton clouds
floating
low across the sky
darkest
overhead
6-19-05 the golf ball was gone
deep
into the woods while leaves
drift
slow to the ground
6-20-05 thin amber contrails
map
the paths of airplanes
chasing
after the sun
