~*~ Tessa 2 & 3 years old ~*~

On June 10th, 2001 my sweet little angel
turned into a terrible 2 year old.
The sweetness is still lingering there
but it is covered by her stubbornness and getting her own way.
While telling you, "No" she can give you the most heart warming smile
which is really just her way of saying,
"I'm too cute Mom, you can't get mad at me."

Tessa is now walking up to 15 ft. unassisted.
She glows with every step that she takes.
There have been no shunt infections so far or UTI's
and she has never been cathed or on any bowel program.
Last March we got her first pair of AFO's that help her weak ankles.
It was then she started to take steps on her own.
She has Early Intervention PT come once a month
and attends Spina Bifida Clinic at
Primary Children's Hospital every 6 months.

Tessa loves to play with her brother.
She is at the stage where it is amusing
for her to copy cat her brother, Ethan.
Fortunately it is amusing to him too!
She definetely talks up a storm
and also speaks sign language as a second language.
Dancing is a favorite of Tessa's especially
when her Daddy plays his guitar and sings to her.

She is a tough little girl and can put up with
a lot of bumps and bruises which she accumulates quickly
but she also is a cuddle bug with a sweet spirit.
I struggle to admit this but she is also a very big daddy's girl.
I have never seen a child love someone
so much as she does her daddy.

June 2002
It has been a year now and my darling Tessa is now 3
years old. She and Ethan have become great friends.
Tessa is now walking everywhere on her own. She has
recently mastered climing up stairs on her own step
by step and jumps on the trampoline gaining 3 inches
of height while holding our hands. She has also gone
to wearing shorter braces called SMO's and we are in
the process of potty training her.

We have enrolled her in swimming lessons which she
really enjoys and is very good at. She loves to ride
her bike and play with her dog Shay, our Doberman.
She can talk a mile an hour and is turning from a
toddler into our beautiful little girl who is still
I should add a little Daddy's girl.

We are truly blessed to have this miracle in our life.
Fetal Surgery for Spina Bifida made a difference for our
daughter and we are greatful to Dr. Bruner and Dr. Tulipan
for what they have done for Tessa.

about Spina Bifida or Fetal Surgery for Spina Bifida or
