Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island
This is a statue next to Lindisfarne Priory of St. Cuthbert, a popular saint in England.
Lindisfarne Priory, or what's left of it. The Priory became an easy target for Danish Vikings--far from a sizeable militia, rich church and only aesthetic monks to defend against. It is believed that this was one of the first sites to be raided by Vikings.
Artsy shot, couldn't resist. Three levels of distance--ruined window, smooth arch, and cross from a nearby graveyard.
