The story starts with a young fourteen-year-old girl named Tsukino Usagi. Usagi was a klutz and a ditz at the start of the story, complaining about everything. No one would have thought she would become the one and only Sailor Moon, the savior of the world. She came to be Sailor Moon when she was revealed to be her by a talking cat. At the beginning she was weary about becoming a fighter of justice but soon becomes accustomed to the duty. But she cannot fight alone. In her first fight she is forced into a bad situation when a handsome soldier named Tuxedo Kamen comes to her rescue. He saves her by throwing a rose and encourages her. She defeats the enemy with ease. However she is not the only Sailor soldier. Two more are revealed, Sailor Mars (Hino Rei) and Sailor Mercury (Mizuno Ami). They help her battle against evil and Sailor Mars defeats a general whom which the evil Queen Beryl, the main enemy of the Sailor Senshi had battling for her trying to discover where the Mysterious Silver Crystal is. But Usagi does not always pay attention to the fighting aspect of things. She as Tsukino Usagi often battles with a man named Chiba Mamoru, a student at Moto Azabu High School, junior class. Unfortunately Usagi sees a similarity between him and Tuxedo Kamen, whom she has developed a crush upon. It seems that Tuxedo Kamen forms a crush on her as well so during one of the battles her gives her a kiss on a balcony when she is out of sailor form. He says it feels so familiar to him and Luna asks him why he is trying to find the Silver Crystal. He says that they are both searching for them so perhaps they are enemies. There is yet another sailor soldier discovered named Sailor Jupiter (Makoto). She helps them to defeat Nephrite, another general of Queen Beryl. Al the way throughout the battles already said Tsukino Usagi begins to grow and mature, not acting so immature and whining so much. She begins to grow and flourish, acting more and more mature as time goes on. Especially at the point in which she discovers Tuxedo Kamen's true identity. After a battle Usagi is injured and unconscious. Tuxedo Kamen takes her back to his apartment. When she awakes, he, already knowing her identity approaches her, without his mask, cape, or top hat on. He is revealed to be none other than the man in which Usagi battles with constantly, Chiba Mamoru. Luckily for Usagi, she is beginning to develop a crush on Mamoru himself. Usagi still is not pleased though about Tuxedo Kamen being Mamoru. She questions him about why he is searching for the silver crystal. He tells her that he has to regain his memory and then relates to her all that her knows about his past self, his only memory. He relates to her how on his birthday his parents take him out on a car ride and for some reason or another the car plummets off the road and off a cliff. Luckily Mamoru survives but his parents die. He says that he had amnesia and couldn't remember anything of before that point. He said that when he awoke from in the hospital he was told his name was Chiba Mamoru. He said that he didn't know if that was who he really was since he didn't remember. But a dream began to come to him asking for the Silver Crystal. It came every night over and over again to him. He thinks that it will bring back his memory.
