Article #2 - SIMPLE IDEAS FOR HORSE CLUB FUND-RAISING

No photosWhether your horse club has dozens of members or just a handful, theres one major concern all clubs share, thats how to raise funds for basic operating expenses, activities and awards. Fund-raising isnt hard if you use some imagination. There are several simple ways to add to the clubs kitty without putting on a major event. And, many can be accomplished during cold weather when ridings limited or during club get-togethers.
The "Mystery Box" is a real crowd pleaser. All you need is a roll of raffle tickets and a reusable, fair-sized, decorated cardboard box with a lid. Ask members for donations: a bottle of horse shampoo, brushes, a horse-related crafty item or a gift certificate. Anything will do. It doesn't have to be expensive. Then sell tickets and have a drawing. By keeping tickets to about fifty cents each or three for a dollar, almost everyone will take a chance. The "Mystery Box" works best at club meetings; especially if the drawings held at the end and the winner must be present to win. Ive used the Mystery Box on numerous occasions and have raised from $15 to $120. Not a bad profit considering, once the box is made, all you have to do is put something in it and sell tickets...etc.
