I suggested a name change to help boost
the number of people attending by making the name less
exclusive and more general. Lauren suggested we changed
it to support M.E. but I pointed out that there is
another group already with that name. No conclusion was
made so any suggestions are welcome.
I asked the members if they knew anyone
who had M.E. who didn't come to the meeting, who might
like to come Ruth suggested one of her friends and she
said that she would mention it to her. Also I suggested
we target the schools in the local area. Someone
mentioned about the papers which I have already been to.
I asked the members if they liked the new
format of bimonthly meetings to organise a trip out in
the intervening months. Everyone seemed quite happy with
this suggestion.
I suggested that we visit schools during M.E.
Awareness Week (Mon 13th May ~ Fri 17th May) and talk on
our experiences at school with M.E. some people offered
to help out. Also going to speak to the local papers was
also discussed. It has been suggested that we have the
next Support M.E. Petersfield Meeting on Saturday 18th
May to coincide with the end of M.E. Awareness Week
although that date has yet to be confirmed.
When the point of fund raising was
mentioned everyone seemed to come up pretty blank, so
suggestions are more than welcome.
I asked if people like the website which I
have set up for the group a lot of people said that they
hadn't even seen it so I gave them the address.
We have decided to go to the cinema this
month, we are not yet sure what film we will see however
we decided that Gun Wharf Quays would be the most
suitable place to go. Monsters Inc. Was suggested as the
film that we go to see. The date chosen was Saturday 23rd
March 2002 but a time hasn't been finalised as yet.
It was suggested that a mailing list was
started to keep all the members informed of what is going
on with the group so that if people don't go to the
meetings they can still come on the trip.
