Probably one of the influential (if not the most influential) things in most lives is the television. The TV was not very important in my home, and never will be.  My family has never owned a big tv- only a small thirteen inch one. We pick up one station, two on a good day. No cable, no satellite.  No regrets, either.  This is the page where I share with you my favorite TV shows and movies. But first, let's deal with one thing. The  Star Trek franchise covers several shows and ten movies. I'm a trekkie, so those are some of my favorites. But I'm going to put them aside, because I have another page for the Trek stuff.

TV Shows

Boy Meets World
      - I grew up in a sense with this show. It is my favorite, alongside
Deep Space Nine.  The show is over, long over, but I am now collecting the DVDs. This show has a seperate page dedicated to it.

Home Improvement
       - this show, starring Tim Allen as Tim Taylor, was about a man who ran a home-improvement show for a living and who loved to work on improving his home. It's a family show. Like most sitcoms, a situation arises that is dealt with. At least once per episode, Tim's attempt to improve a device results in injury.

Family Matters
       -  this show was about a cop and his  family. It was like most family sitcoms.

Full House
      - the first TV show I ever watched, starring the Olsen twins.

Survivor
      -  Strand over a dozen Americains in the middle of nowhere and see what happens. My favorite TV show at the moment. It has its own page dedicated to it.

Movies
The Three Musketeers:
             -
This version starred Oliver Pratt, Charlie Sheen, and Chris O'Donnell in a retelling of that classic tale. D'Artagnan is a young Frenchman wishing to join the king's personal guard. Upon arrival in Paris, he learns that the Evil Cardinal Richieleau has disbanded the musketeers and wants to kill the three who haven't given up their tunics and swords.  D'Artagnan joins Aramis, Athos, and Porthos as they fight the Cardinal, with lots of funny quotes.

My Date with the President's Daughter

- Duncan's friends bet him $25 that he couldn't find a date for the dance, so he asked the first attractve girl he found. She happened to be the President's only daughter.  The Secret Service won't let Duncan take Hallie to the dance, so they sneak out. The result is a funny family comedy.

Twelve Angry Men
          - A young man is accused of killing his father. There were multiple witnesses and the murder weapon was his. The evidence is overwhelmingly against him, but one juror refuses to sentence this young man to death row until the entire set of circumstances is reexamined. The entire movie takes place within the jury room, as Henry Fonda systematically dismantles the prosecution's arguments, proving that there is indeed reasonable doubt that the boy did it.

Yours, Mine, and Ours
          - Henry Fonda plays a Navy commander with ten children who meets a Navy nurse who has eight. In case you're not quick, that's eighteen children. They marry and the movie is about their problems

West Side Story
         - a modern-day retelling of Romeo and Juliet.  Instead of rival houses, it depicts two rival gangs- the white Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Tony, a former Jet, falls in love with Maria,  who is the sister of the Shark's leader.  It's a musical, and my favorite movie.
