| "Never talk about politics or religion" has been a long-standing rule to avoid conflict in a social situation. Well I say screw 'em. Politics and religion have to be two topics upon which everyone, with at least an iota of intelligence, has some deep-seated fervent opinion. Take Pauline Hanson for example; you either love her or hate her, there's no inbetween, no middle ground, no wishy-washy sitting on the fence when it comes to her. That's why I admire people who are opinionated. It doesn't matter whether we agree with one another's views or prejudices, but it is important to at least say what's on your mind. The big difference of course, and this is what separates the wheat from the chaff, the intellectuals from the imbeciles, the dickheads from the morons, is the ability to speak from at least a minimum of an informed opinion, something, sadly, which Pauline Hanson and the multitude of redneck Hansonites has failed to achieve over the years, - stick to the fish n chips Pauline. On a more positive note, I've always admired Paul Keating (and I know some of you are groaning at this point), yes I do consider myself to be more right wing than left. Paul has always had the unique and completely unabashed ability to say exactly what's on his mind. Click on his pic to read some of his humorous quotes (particularly with regards to other people) or go here to Paul's own home page. Forget the platitudes, say what's on your mind. After all, if you can't stand the heat..... |
