She is an Alaskan Malamute, not to be confused with a Siberian Husky.

Sasha joined our family in 1995, when we adopted her from our local animal shelter. She was already housebroken and socialized to children, cats and other dogs.

If you're considering adopting, there are local Malamute Rescue organizations such as the following:

fuscia_b.gif (2445 bytes) Potomac Valley Alaskan Malamute Rescue
fuscia_b.gif (2445 bytes) Alaskan Malamute Rescue of New England
fuscia_b.gif (2445 bytes) Alaskan Malamute Protection League (AMPL)

Some interesting facts ... Blue eyes are a disqualifying factor for the Malamute. Malamutes do not bark as much as many other dogs, but they do TALK!! ARoo Roo Roo Wooo Woooo Wooo!!!
