Mario
 Good old mario. Hes back for his 5th good around in the kart racing genre. He is the most balanced character in the group, and good for begginers.
Karts:
Luigi
 What would a Mario Kart be without Luigi. A good game(XD) I kidd. But Mario's astranged brother joins him in the karty goodness. Luigi stats are a tad better, but lacks drifting skills. Better for players good with Mario
Peach
 Marios suposed "girlfriend" joins him in the race, thus proving pink is the color of death. She has the highest drift for any lightweight and any character for that matter.
Yoshi
 Cute and Lovable, Yoshi makes his way onto the track in MKDS. He has high acc. and handleing, making him good for beginners and learning how to snake.
Toad
 Toad is back in all his mushroom glory. His Acc. is only slightly better then Yoshi's, and his handling isn't better, but hes a more well rounded lightweight with adverage handling and drift.
Wario
 Better watch out, Mario's alter ego is here to cheat and shove his way into first. Much like Toad, he's a well rounded heavyweight with lower Acc.
Donkey Kong
 Banana in your tail pipe? who else could it be? DK prove he's also the King of the Course in MKDS. His stats are less then Wario, but he has a higher drift.
Bowser
 The Koppa King is back and he not letting Mario win this Grand Prix, NO MATTER WHAT. Bowser has a HIGH speed but a low Acc. He has a better drift then Wario and is the Heaviest character in the game.
Dry Bone
 After the last Mario Kart Koppa was in an acident, but has come back from the dead to race aging. He has the highest Acc and Turning of any character, but he is the lightest and has the lowest speed. Great for snaking though.
Daysi
 The Princess of Sarasaland is here to show up the Mushroom Kingdom's best. She has the highest drift among the light weights but also the 3rd lowest handling (DK has second, Bowser has first)
Waluigi
 How hes related to Wario we still dont know, but we do know he's come in first(by illegit means of course) Hes the same as Mario but he trades Acc for speed. Oh yeah, he has his own pinball corse too.
R.O.B.
 For those of you who rememmber him, he was bundled with the original NES, and has been a cameo star ever since. Now he races in MKDS. He has the highest Speed and the best handling of any heavyweight but not the highest weight and the lowest drift of the heavyweights
Shy Guy
 The masked racer(as he likes to be called) is beinging his skills to the world of Mario Kart DS. Sadliy however you can only use him in download play, and has only one kart.
Weight Classes:
There are 3 weight classes. Light, Medium, ansd Heavy with 4 for each category(not including Shy Guy) Here are the traits for each.
Light: These characters have higher acceleration but lower speed. They have good handling and longer mini turbos making them great for snaking. They are comonly used in Wi-Fi.
Medium: These characters are the most well rounded, making them good in any situation and great for begginers. They have medium mini-turbos, making them decent at snaking.
Heavy: These guy have high speed and weight but low acc. They also tend to have good drift(except for R.O.B.). There turbos are short so there are not good at snaking, but theres get them to there top speed(which is higher)
