Getting the Most Nutrition

Many pesticides reside on the produce we eat, and it is a good idea to clean them as best as you can before eating. You can buy a natural fruit and vegetable detoxifyer at health food stores. Your food will be much better for you and will taste better!

Eat raw, unroasted, unsalted almonds. Eating  ten almonds a day you will give you all daily requirements of calcium that your need.
Always store almonds in the refrigerator or in the freezer.
To make almonds more digestible, place almonds in a dish and cover with water. Leave them at room temperature for several hours or overnight. This tricks the almonds into thinking that they are germinating, they swell and turn soft. Place them in a container, (a small yogurt container works well for this), store them in the door of the refrigerator. Whenever you go to the fridge for a snack you will see the almonds, grab a few and munch while you continue the hunt.
Soaking in Pineapple Juice. An alternative to water is pineapple juice. The almonds take on a sweet pineapple flavor.

If you must boil your vegetables, save the liquid. Pour it into ice cube trays, freeze it in the freezer, then store in a labeled plastic container or bag and use it to replace the water in recipes. This way you will still be able to retain the nutrients lost to the water when you boiled your vegetables.

Steam your vegetables whenever possible. Tupperware makes a great dish for the microwave. You place the vegetables to be cooked into a dish with holes, this in turn fits into another dish. Pour boiling water over  your vegetables and place the dish into the microwave for a few minutes. Voila! Easy, quick steamed vegetables.

Saute your vegetables in a pan with a little bit of water. Just enough that the water gets absorbed back into the vegetables during cooking. This way, nothing is lost.

Nutrients exist under the skin of most fruits and vegetables, therefore you should always try to leave the skin on vegetables. This requires a thorough cleaning. A fruit and vegetable detoxifyer works well. Cleaning this way lets you eat in peace. You aren't thinking about what you may be ingesting by not peeling your vegetables.
