FABULOUS FIBRE
Many studies are telling of the benefits of a high fibre diet. A diet high in fibre aids in the prevention of breast cancer and it also reduces the chances of intestinal cancers. There is a lot you can do to increase the fibre in your diet, and begin adding prevention points.
Substitute brown rice for white in recipes. Brown rice is much higher in fibre then white rice and it is has a lot more taste!
Be bolder with your bread choices! Instead of white choose whole wheat, pumpernickel, or rye.
Eat more whole grains, like Bulgur. Bulgur is a granulated wheat that has been cracked into small pieces. It is a fabulous addition to anybody's diet as it is low in fat, and high in fiber. It can be used as a substitution for rice in almost any recipe. It is also great in stuffing's and as a replacement for some of the ground beef in any recipe calling for it.
Eat more beans! There is such a wide variety of beans to choose from. Lentils, kidney, garbanzo!
Beans are a great source of dietary fiber and a good source of protein.
