Cut the top off a plastic pop bottle and use it as a funnel. Cut the bottom out of a 2 L. plastic pop bottle and use it by your sink to put your dish scrubs in. Save things such as the cardboard rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, egg cartons, odd little pieces of card board and anything you think to make a craft box a little more interesting. Save a few pasta sauce jars and use them to store that canned pasta sauce that you need to store in the refrigerator. When you are placing food in freezer bags to go into the freezer, put a straw in the bag first and such out all the air. The food will freeze better and most likely keep longer. Standing in line at the supermarket, I got into a conversation about the good price of blueberries this week. The woman passed on a great way to reuse jars and an easy way to freeze blueberries. It is this, wash your blueberries, place them in a clean jar and place in the freezer. Dressing Tip When you are at the bottom of that salad dressing bottle, try adding a little vinegar or oil and swish is around really good. You will be able to squeeze out another serving or two from the bottle. What if you have creamy dressing? Add a little bit of milk or even water. The water will cause it to be runnier but in that case you can doctor it up with a tbs. of sour cream, or plain yogurt. AT THE GROCERY STORE ![]() Know your grocery store. If you know you don't need anything down a certain aisle then dont go down it. Chances are if you do you will end up picking something up that you didn't have on your list and don't need. Always take your list and go by it, crossing everything off as you pick it up. If time allows, try to shop two times a week for fresh produce. Most produce only has a 1 week period of freshness. Also, never buy more then you can eat in a week. You will not be saving $ if you are throwing it out! As tempting as that reduced produce may look because it's half price, you would probably be better off if you left it at the store. Consider the fact that it is already wilting. Most fresh produce will only last a week so that reduced produce you picked up will probably only last you two days! If you end of throwing most of it out, it doesn't turn out to be such a great deal afterall. |
