Clark says to Lex that Jason is "part of Lana�s life whether you like it or not." To make amends with Jason, Lex arranges his Human Resources head to give Jason a job.

There�s an explosion at the Luthorcorp Plant. Lex talks with Otis Ford, project manager. Employees lie unconscious because they were infected with a "toxin we�re developing for the military that invokes people�s worst nightmares" and puts them into a state of panic.

There is a Lana/Clark/Kents scene where Lana is concerned about Jason who�s been infected with the toxin and is now in the hospital. The doctors have told Lana, "A person�s body can only sustain a level of panic for so long before their heart gives out." Clark says not to worry because they�ll figure something out.

Clark and Lana are in the Smallville Torch looking at satellite weather images for environmental quality and weather patterns.

Lionel is in prison playing chess with his inmates. He calls "Checkmate" and his inmates ask him about his strategy. He replies that you can�t be too greedy otherwise you lose sight of the big picture. His inmates gather around him as Lionel continues to pass over his insights. He says he was afraid of failing so "I cheated, I lied, I did whatever I needed to come out on top."

Chloe�s been infected. She sees a woman in a straight jacket. Chloe recognizes her eerie voice and says "Mom?" The woman says "You can�t escape it. None of the women in our family ever have." The woman is a gaunt version of Chloe. She screams and then realizes she is in a straight jacket herself.

It seems Lex has been infected too because we see his nightmare. The Luthor mansion library has been decorated into a wedding chapel set. Lex is beaming with joy as he stands next to his veiled bride. The Priest reads the vows and Lex says "I do." Lex lifts the bride�s veil and it�s Lana! The Priest asks Lana if she will take Lex to "have and to hold�" Lana looks at Lex and is horrified. He asks her "Lana, what's wrong?" and she replies "I could never love you, Lex."

Lionel stands in front of the Warden�s (Anita Stone) office in prison. Lionel tells the Warden that he is truly a changed man that wants to help people. Warden Stone tells Lionel he is a free man and that someone very powerful arranged it with the Federal Appeals Court. Lionel can�t believe it and pleads to remain in prison. "I�m guilty�Not of the crime I�m imprisoned for, but for so many crimes which should have landed me here long ago. This is where I belong � where I can do the most good."
