What is the dominant subject in this photo? Is it the tap because it takes up nearly half of the space of the image? Could it be the perfectly balanced man in the Canoe? Or how about the boat entering the harbour? What is the significance of the lighthouse and the sailboats parked in the harbour?
When I took this shoot I guess I was concentrating on the composition of the tap and at the same time "framing" the man in the canoe. It must have been lucky to capture the boat and the lighthouse (later blurred to add the effect of distance). Sundays at Hillarys Harbour (Sorrento Quay) often offers such rewarding moments.
