| "Council? what's the council?" Amy asks. "You mean to tell me that someone chose for me to be a freak? What happened to what I wanted to do with my life huh?" she jumps up off of her chair and begins to stomp around the apartment. "I had a life before this. I had a family. And all of a sudden one day I start shooting fire out of my hands when ever I get pissed!" Gwen quickly gets up. "It's ok Amy. You don't have to think of this as something that will ruin your life. It's a gift. Given to you by the wisest of our kind. To do good." "Yeah I mean, it's wierd being able say a little rhyme and suddenly things start happening that seem straight out of hollywood movie." Alaina stands up and walks towards Amy. "But it's cool. People depend on us and they don't even know it. We're like super heros but without the cheesy costumes. "Amy you could spent your life fighting against yourself. Or, you could choose to fight with us. Against the people that want to hurt those that don't have the power to protect themselves." Gwen walks up closer to Amy. "What's it going to be?" Gwen's Phone starts ringing. She pulls it out of her pocket to see Priest's number flashing on it. "Excuse me." she walks outside to the hall and answers it. "Are you ok? Where are you? I'll be right there." she hangs up and walks back in. "Alaina, we have to go." "Ok." she starts to walk out the door with Gwen. She stops and turns around. "You'll think about it won't you Amy. We could really use someone like you on our side. Plus with you I won't feel as out numbered by the adults." Amy smirks and lets out a slight laugh. "See you around Alaina." she walks up and closes the door behind them. "Heros huh?" she whispers to herself. Alaina and Gwen make it down stairs in time to meet up with Jade. "Where is the girl?" He asks. "Is she all right." "She's fine. She scared away the attacker." Gwen says to him as she walks towards her van. "Get in." "I call shot gun." Alaina shrieks as she races to the van door. "She scared him away? By herself, how?" Jade asks as he jumps into the back of the van. "She caught him on fire." Alaina says with a smile on her face. "I wish I could do that." "Alaina you're north for a reason." Gwen says as she starts the engine. "The last thing the world needs is you with fire power." she says as she drives off. Standing at the edge of a street with Chewy at a dead stop is Priest. The van pulls up beside him. Alaina pulls down her window. "Question?" Alaina asks. "How much do you plan to charge an hour?" "Alaina!" Gwen scolds. "Sorry Priest but I could let that one go." she ishly apologizes. Jade swings open the side door to the van and hopes out. "Watch your step." he says as he helps Priest into the vehicle. Chewy jumps in beside him. "Of course now you want to move." Priest says to the dog. "Dumb mutt." Jade slams the door shut and turns towards Priest. "Did you get what you need from that guy?" "Not really. But there are other ways." he says while adjusting his glasses. "Shall we go home then?" "Sure." Gwen says as she drives off. "I think we've all had a long day. Who's up for some pizza?" The street flicker of the street lamps create an errie shadow over the statues, the sound of the fountian can faintly be heard. Inside the home is the young man sitting in he comfy old chair. Beside him a man with burns on his legs. "You said it would be easy. Just one witch you said. She was supposed to be new to her powers!" the burnt man begins to scream. "She was casting like a pro! I didn't even have enough time to steal the magic from her." "Perhaps, when dealing with new witches, from now on I shall call apon someone else. Seeing as you are incapable of doing any little thing right!" the man in the chairs calms himself. "You will not have to worry about that witch from now on. I'll send someone else to take care of her. Perhaps someone of thicker blood." he looks over at the man. "You truely are a disapointment." The burnt man's face begins to turn a shade of purple. He tries to breathe but can't. He reaches towards his throught and then callapses on the floor. His body grows limp. "Pitty." the young man says to the corpse. "I kind of like him too. Oh well." To be continued. |
