Poker Terms
FLOP - the first 3 cards to hit the board after the first round of betting
TURN - the 4th community card, also known as "4th Street"
RIVER - the 5th and final community card, also known as "5th Street"
FOLD - when you throw away your hand and surrender the pot
CALL - when you match someone's bet to stay in the hand
ALL IN - when you push all your remaining chips into the pot
TILT - When you can't stop playing bad, normally as the result of a series of bad beats
POCKET - the two down cards held by a player
POT - the chips in the center of the table that you are trying to get
OVER CARD - a card higher in rank than any other card on the board
DEUCE - two
A RACE - when two players are allin before the flop, and are both about even statistically to
win the hand
BULLETS - pocket aces, also known as Pocket Rockets
LADIES - pocket queens
FISH HOOKS - poket jacks
SNOWMEN - pocket eights
SPEED LIMIT - pocket fives
OUTS - cards that will make your losing hand a winner
SLOW PLAY - pretending your hand is weaker than it really is, in hopes that your opponent will
put more chips into the pot
BAD BEAT - when someone has very few outs to win the hand, but wins anyway
DRAWING DEAD - when there are no cards that can come to make your hand a winner
BLUFFING - when someone with a bad hand bets hoping everyone folds
SEMI-BLUFF - when someone bets with nothing, but has a lot of outs, should someone call
