Things have changed a bit at work since I first created this page at the turn of the century. The Stamford Road building has been demolished & I am moving into the new Victoria Street building later this month. Our research services role will be restored to us after being shut down in 1997. I am still a Reference Librarian in the National Reference Library but now doing more training work.

I work as a Reference Librarian in the National Library Board's Information Services Division. My desk is currently at the National Library Building on Stamford Road. Here is a picture of where I work:

What do I do? Well, the job of a reference librarian is simply to answer questions.

What questions do I answer? Anything.
Here is a sample of some of the questions I get from the public:
How do you transfer a video into a VCD?
Where can I find pictures of children's bibs in China from the last century?
What does God look like?

The questions I hate most are the medical ones asked by patients. For example: what's the life expectancy of lung cancer patients?

My favourite areas of knowledge are science & technology, especially the biological sciences; business; and Singapore history.
