The Band
Slow Dive is a five-piece band with more than good heads on their shoulders to boot. Born in UP Diliman on August 2004, the band was originally composed of Iiko (Roxanne Paraguison) on vocals and rhythm guitars, Mac (Hirro Mac Kuizon) on lead guitars, Karl (Karl Frederick Taberdo) on bass and Jaimar (Jaimar Palispis) on drums, and managed by May Anne Bastes of the UP Underground Music Community. After a while, Iiko decided to focus on the vocals and songwriting instead and so the band got another guitarist, Jayvan Geli. With influences from the likes of Deftones, Dream Theater, Tori Amos, Silverchair and Urbandub, Slow Dive's music is a mishmash of morose poetry and heavy guitar riffs fused with melodic wraithlike vocals. Slow Dive released their three-track prototype EP, Sandlady, early February 2005 and was featured in NU Rock 107's In the Raw in the same month. The band also performed in Studio 23's morning show, Breakfast, last September 23, 2005.
