| Goldeneye Though its existance is mere speculation, it is the ambition of the Janus syndicate to show the world the true power of Goldeneye. James Bond and Alec Travelyan (007 and 006) penetrate deep into a chemical warfare facility in Arkangelsk adjoining the Byelomoyre dam of the USSR. Their primary objective is to sabotage all production proceedings. However as James and Alec were placing explosives in the bottling room, the alarm sounded, and troopers came pouring in. They were followed by the General, Arkady Ouramov. Alec was captured, and executed in front of 007. Using 006's sacrifice for the benefit of the mission, James managed to escape and complete the mission by destroying the facility. 9 years later, 007 is sent to Siberia (not in the movie) to investigate the unusual activities at a satellite control bunker. After eliminating the bulk of the security, Bond forced the technicion Boris Greshenko to disable the security systems so that he could copy the data from the satellite network mainframes. In doing so, however, he set off the alarm which called re-enforcements. Upon evading the specially trained commando re-enforcements, James then sets off to a missile silo in Kirghizstan, where he once again meets up with General Ouramov. This time however, it is Ouramov who is running from 007. James plants special explosives (plastique) in the rocket fuelling rooms, and destroys the facility, however Ouramove escaped. James heads off to Monte Carlo to observe the first demonstration of the "Pirate" helicopter which invulnerable to electro-magnetic energy, making it immune to the power of Goldeneye. Onboard the "La Fayette" frigate, James finds that the ship has been overtaken by Janus, and he has to free the crew, while defusing bombs placed in the engine room, and the bridge. An easy task for 007. Before he leaves, he plants a tracker bug on the helicopter so that if it is stolen, it can be tracked. The helicopter was stolen, however the tracker bug indicated that the helicopter was heading to Sevenaya. Upon the completion of the Russian satellite bunker in Sevenaya, James Bond returns. While navigating the harsh, snowy conditions outside, 007 destroys the radio link between the surface, and the bunker complex, and disables the SPETSNAZ helicopter. However, James' entry into the bunker is an ambush, and he is captured. He finds that the person occupying the cell next to his is a Russian woman named Natalya Fyodorovra Simonova. She explains to James that she was framed for the theft of Goldeneye, however it was General Ouramov. Upon escaping the cell with Natalya, James finds out that the Goldeneye is set to fire upon Sevenaya, leaving James and Natalya only seconds to escape. Some how, Natalya is captured by Janus. To find her, James consults an old acquaintance named Valentin Zurkofsky. He tells James to meet Janus by the statue of Lenin in an old statue park in St Petersburg. At the rendezvous, James discovers that Janus is in fact Alec Travelyn, the dead MI6 hero who sacrificed himself for the mission in Byelomoyre. It is an attempted ambush, but Bond evades Janus' special forces to find the stolen helicopter with Natalya next to it. His presence activated the proximity detonator, leaving James and Natalya only a few moments to escape the explosion. James tells Natalya to wait at the gates of the park while he retrieves the black box from the helicopter. He finds it, however as he gets to the gates, he finds that Natalya is being held at gunpoint by the Russian defence minister, and his men. Bond surrenders. Bond and Natalya are taken to the Military Archives in the heart of St Petersburg, where they await their execution. James escapes his imprisonment, and, after shooting quite a lot of people, saves Natalya as well. They both locate defence minister Mishkin, and explain to him of Ouramov's involvement with the Sevenaya incident, and with the Janus Syndicate. James retrieves the black box of the helicopter, and escapes through one of the windows. Natalya is once again captured by Ouramov, who escapes in a car. James hops in one of the tanks behind the Archives and navigates the guard-bombarded streets of St Petersburg. He follows them to an abandoned train depot where he locates Janus' armoured train, and sneaks aboard. On the train, James works his way from the very back, right through to the very front. Along the way, he destroys all of the brake units stopping the train. In the front carriage, he finds Alec Travelyn, Xenia Onatop, and Ouramov who has Natalya at gunpoint. At this point, the intention of the Janus Syndicate is revealed; they plan to electronically transfer all of the money from the British banks into another account overseas just seconds before setting off Goldeneye over London which would disable all electronic devices in the UK making the transaction untraceable. James unhesitantly eliminates Ouramov, however Alec and Xenia escape the train before all of the doors and windows are sealed up by metal shutters which locks James and Natalya into the train. Also set off by the roller doors is a bomb which leaves only a minute for Natalya to track down her computer comrade from Sevenaya (who joined Janus) and for Bond to cut an exit with his watch laser. They barly escape the explosion. While on the train, Natalya located her computer comrade Boris Grishenko. Bond and Natalya both fly off to that location in Cuba. Their plane is shot down from a rocket launched from a mystery location, and they crash into the jungle. Bond and Natalya navigate the jungle eliminating guards and destroying heavy drone gun emplacements. In the midst of the jungle, Bond comes across Xenia, who plans to eliminate Bond and Natalya with her RC-P90 and grenade launcher. Bond is, however, victorious. He continues to escort Natalya to through the jungle where they find the entrance to the secret base hidden under a huge lake. Bond and Natalya make their way through the compound eliminating guards as necessary, and destroying crucial information hidden in armoured computer mainframes before Natalya attempts to hack the Goldeneye computer system encoded by Boris Grishenko. She does so successfully, and escapes to the surface, however Bond continues to pursue Janus. Janus attempts to escape from Bond by taking the route to the surface via the subterranean water caverns which supply the water that fills the artificial lake which hides the compound. James is just as fast as Alec, and follows him all the way. On his way, 007 manages to destroy the inlet and outlet pump controls for the lake preventing the compound being hidden once more. He also manages to contact Jack Wade for re-enforcements. James then continues to follow Alec, where he comes to an elevator leading up one of the huge support pillars that hold up the huge satellite antenna that hid under the water of the artificial lake. On the top of the antenna, James continues to pursue Alec. Although Natalya disabled the satellite controls, there is a manual controller on the antenna dish also, which Alec activated. Bond destroys the manual controls, however at this stage, Alec is ready to face Bond. They meet at the centre of the antenna cradle where James eliminates Alec once and for all. He is then picked up by Natalya in a helicopter which she stole. * * * * * This story is a lot different to the plot of the movie, but it makes for fun gaming. |
| Perfect Dark Millions of years ago, a partially sentient ship belonging to a race called the Cetans was travelling in this solar system. The vast creature that is the Cetan ship was harbouring a weapon of magnifice nt power that was capable of destroying the links between atoms, effectively turing its target into a cloud of dust. When the ship became damaged, crashed into Earth's ocean where it would lay dormant until another Cetan ship could retrieve the cargo because it did not want to risk the weapon getting into the wrong hands. As it prepared to crash, it dispatched a pod that contained the Cetan's equivalent of a Black Box. This pod was to return to the Cetan planet of origin and request assistance, but the pod did not arrive at the Cetan home planet. The pod was intercepted by a race called the Skedar. The Skedar are a fanitical race with war as the religion. They were at constant war with a race calld the Maians, until they found the Cetan pod. This discovery lead to the Skedar allowing the Maians to believe that they had earned a cease-fire, but this was a ploy to give the Skedar time to locate the Cetan Mega-weapon. Coincidently, the Maians had always watched over Earth to see the progress of the Human race as they saw that it had great potential. But because of acts such as war and tyranny, the Maians never reveaed themselves to humanity; they wanted to wait until it had matured as a civilisation. In 1985, a man called Daniel Carrington had discovered the enigma of the Maians and made the first ever extra terestrial contact in the history of man. The Maians saw Carrington as a trustworthy person, and so Carrington and the Maians shared technology, but the Maians did not decide that they would make a formal appearance to the Human race. Carrington's willingness to make friendly contact between the Maians and the Human race caused him to found an institute for that purpose named the Carrington Institute. The Skedar eventually found Earth, but they did not have the resources to escavate the Cetan ship. After several abductions, and animal mutilations, the Skedar decided to approach a series of Earth-based companies with the resources to escavate the Cetan ship. At the top of that list was the dataDyne Corpiration, run by a shrewd business woman named Cassandra DeVries. The Skedar promise new technology in return for assistance. The offer seemed too good to be true, which it was. DeVries called up on an old acquaintence to assist: Trent Easton, president of the NSA (National Security Association). Their relationship is completely professional, as they work together because of their similar interests. Soon after the arrival of the Skedar, dataDyne began releasing technological breakthroughs. This added to Carrington's suspicion. Carrington then recieved a message from a scientist named Dr Caroll. Dr Caroll said that he worked in the dataDyne laboratories below the Lucerne Tower. He told Carrington of his concerns of dataDyne's involvement with the suspicious men in white coats (the Skedar), and that he was going to be put through mind-conditioning. Carrington acted immediately by sending newly trained A++ agent Joanna Dark to extract Dr Caroll. After being dropped off on the Heli-pad on top of Lucerne Tower, the dataDyne international HQ, Joanna makes her way down the skyscraper to locate Dr Caroll. After several nasty encounters, Jo finds Dr Caroll but is amazed when she finds that he is an Artificial Inteligence unit (AI) designed with advanced code-breaking capabilities. On her way up the building, she is stalked by the dataDyne attach chopper which fired at her through the windows, however after equipping a rocket launcher, she apprehends the threat. Joanna runs the gauntlet of Cassandra's personal bodyguards to get back to the top of the skyscraper, where she is picked up by a drop ship. Not before a few shallow threats from Cassanrda of course. Carrington and Dr Caroll were having a private meeting at Carrington's personal villa when a dataDyne hit squad raids the villa capuring Carrington and Dr Caroll. Carrington is held hostage while Dr Caroll is taken back to dataDyne for mind-conditioning. To rescue Carrington, Joanna is dropped off at the villa to act as a negotiator. Negotiation, however, the last thing on her mind. Joanna sucessfully rescues Carrington, but is too late to save Dr Caroll. While Carrington was taken hostage, he pretended to be unconsious, and some of the dataDyne hit squad let loose a few pieces of information. He heard of a meeting to be held in Chicargo between dataDyne, NSA and the Skedar in the G5 Corpiration building. Joanna is sent off to Chigago to eavesdrop on this meeting. Dissapointed at Cassandra for letting the AI make contact with the outside world, and with Trent for not being able to pursuade the President of the United States to allow the loan of the Pleagic II to dataDyne, the Skedar give only one last chance to their Earthbound counterparts. It turns out that Trent, the president's trusted advisor, has a contingency plan to clone the president and kidnap the original in order to obtain permission of the loan of the Pelagic II to dataDyne. The Pelagic II is a deep sea escavation vessel designed conduct a full-scale escavation operation in extreme weather conditions. Also revealed is that Dr Caroll's personality was erased to ensure that his primary code-breaking function was not compromised again. After recording the meeting, Joanna heads off to the safe to obtain Dr Caroll's memory back-up disk. The safe door is however, heavily encoded, so as she began to decode it, the alarm was sounded. She cracks the safe, retrives the disk, and manages to evade the heavy security. After her escape, Joanna tells Carrington of her discovery, and insists that there be a Carrington Institute security squad guard the president. But Carrington disregards this and insists that Joanna head off to Area 51 to investigate what happened with relation to Carrington's 'friends' being shot out of the sky. Against Joanna's better judgement, she enters Area 51 to retreive the survivors of the crash and discover why the craft was shot down. She then finds that the survivor is an alien; a Maian who calls himself Elvis. After meeting up with undercover agent Jonathan, Joanna and Elvis escape in the captured Maian craft. Upon their escape, Joanna is told that her next objective is to head off to Alaska to protect the President. As she arrives at the Alaskan air base deep in the inhospitable mountains, where she is then briefed by Carrington. She is told that Trent will be onboard Air Force One with the president to execute the contingency plan personally. Joanna then 'acquires' the head-stewardess' uniform and enters the air base. After placing all of her weapons and equipment in a suitcase and placing it on the luggage conveyer belt, Joanna quickly races to the scanning system computer outlet and downloads a virus to prevent her equipment from being detected. As she does this, however, Trent's guards raid the air base. Joanna, after displaying the dangerous end of her gun to many of Trent's guards, and stealing the flight plans, gets aboard the Air Force One successfully. On board the plane, she manages to act as the real head-stuardess convincingly, and gets past the president's heavy security team to retrive her equipment. She makes her way up to the president's room and shows him the recording of the meeting between Trent, Cassandra, and the Skedar. At that very moment, a Skedar attack vessel latches onto one of the plane's fuselages and sends in a team of fully armed Skedar warriors to capture the president. Joanna manages to get the president past Trent's guards to the escape pod. After realising that the plan was bound for failure, Trent and the Skedar decided that only a tissue sample was required of the president, and so it did not matter if he were dead. With this in mind, Trent's guards killed the pilots of the plane in an attempt to crash the plane. After a failed attempt to detach the Skedar ship from Air Force One with explosives, Joanna calls upon Elvis, who is following Air Force One as back-up for Joanna, to shoot the Skedar ship off of the plane. But the primary weapon on Elvis' craft are jammed. Elvis decides that the only option was to ram the umbilical cord that connected the plane to the Skedar ship. This however, caused all three crafts to crash. The three crafts crashed into a snow-covered island. Air Force One was torn to pieces, however Elvis' and the Skedar ships were not damaged beyond function. The Skedar ship sent out a powerful jamming signal making the tracing of the plane, or Joanna's radio contact with Carrington impossible. After activating the distress signal located on the escape pod, Joanna proceeds to locate the president and rescue him from Trent and his urban warfare robots. Although the warbots are eliminated, Trent manages to escape. Joanna takes the president to Elvis to ensure his safety as she decides to go after Trent and the Skedar. With the president in safe hands, Joanna locates the Skedar ship and, after eliminating the near-by Skedar warriors, destroys the ship with a series of mines. After bearly escaping the massive explosion of the Skedar ship, Joanna goes after Trent. Instead of finding Trent, Joanna finds the whimpering clone of the president. Taking no chances, Joanna eliminates it. Accepting that finding Trent would be unlikely, Joanna decides to leave with Elvis and the President. Soon after, Trent is caught by a Skedar warrior. Bearing in mind Trent's first failure, the Skedar warrior eliminates Trent. Joanna and Elvis are then dropped off into the ocean to sneak aboard the Pelagic II to sabotage dataDyne's plans. Elvis stays at the entry point to secure the area, while Joanna infultrates the vessel. After activating the mini-sub (sumbersible) Joanna heads off to the generator core to halt all dataDyne testing on what has been salvaged from the site below. After this, she heads off to the control room and 'pursuades' the pilots to shut down the auto-pilot. This causes the ship to wonder off station, After a rendezvous with Elvis, Joanna overcomes dataDyne armed forces and makes her way to the submersible with Elvis. After having sabotaged the Pelagic II by piercing by hull with explosives, Joanna and Elvis board the submersible and begin their decent to the deep-sea salvage site. Joanna and Elvis make their way into the deep-sea compound only to find that there are no guards in sight. This draws their suspision immediately, and they take up defensive positions as they prepare to trek deeper into the facility. As they past the air-lock doors, they find that they aren't in a dataDyne compound, but that they are in a huge underground cavern which holds the immense Cetan ship. Before they could do anything, guards with cloaking devices appear all over the room. Elvis and Joanna act quickly and eliminate the dataDyne threat. They then enter the man-made air-lock build into the side of the Cetan ship and come accross more dataDyne resistance. After promptly dealing with them, Joanna and Elvis find the body of a Skedar warrior who fell victim to the Cetan auto-defence system. After several more armed encounters with dataDyne and the Skedar, Joanna and Elvis find a substation control room where they find access to the ship's teleportal system. They re-activate it and use the teleportals to locate the power nodules that feed the Cetan megaweapon. After destroying the nodules, the megaweapon is effectively disabled, but not destroyed. Joanna and Elvis storm into the control room and eliminated the Skedar protection guarding the mantlepeice of their plan; Dr Carroll. They insert the backup disk that they stole from Chicago to restore the AI's personality. It works and Dr Carroll is restored. He then tells Joanna and Elvis that he has cracked the Cetan security code and that he is in control of the vastly powerful Cetan Megaweapon. He then says that he is left with no choice but to set the ship on self-destruct, by which he will not be able to escape. However, Joanna and Elvis have just enough time to get out of the ship. Elvis and Joanna hurl themselves out of the air-locks just as the ship's internal structures were engulfed in flames, destroying the ship, the megaweapon, and the dataDyne and Skedar onboard. They then board the submersible to rise to the surface again where they are retrived by the HMAS Newcastle. At the Carrington Institute, Joanna and Carrington prepare to be flown off to the White House where they would be honoured by the president, and take part in the first official contact between Maians and Humans. However, as they prepared for take-off, the sound of a mass explosion rocked the institute. Armed with a machine gun, Joanna raced to the upper sector of the institute to hold off the attackers. She finds a Skedar Warrior. But rather than appearing as a blonde man in a white trench coat, the Skedar appears in it's true form as a green dragon-like alien with monstorous claws. The Skedar have taken hostages and plan to destroy the institute for spite. At the same time, the Skedar are raiding Lucerne Tower and, after kidnapping Cassandra, destroy the building along with the high-tech lab beneath it harbouring all of the new technology. After several dangerous encounters, Joanna saves most of the hostages. She is then told that the Skedar are using a new form of sheild techlology making normal weapons inferior. Joanna then heads off to the laboratory where one of the scientists was working on a new weapon: the RC-P120. It is an uprgade of the RC-P90 with a clip 150% of the size, bullets that can pierce the Skedar sheilds, and the ability to cast a light-bending field around the user making the operator virtually invisable. With this new cross between Human and Maian technology, Joanna manages to rescue most of the hostages, and ensure that Carrington escape safely to the White House. But in doing so, Joanna was left with no choice but to stay behind and continue fighting off the Skedar. Thier forces become overwhelming and Joanna is caputred. After a long time unconsious, Joanna finally wakes up. And to her horror, she is in a cell on board a Skedar attack ship. And to her suprise, in the same cell is Cassandra DeVries. The two quickly overcome thier differences and decide on a way to cause a diversion to allow Joanna to get out and get help. In doing so, however, Cassanrda is (or seems to be) killed by the Skedar. Because of Cassandra's sacrifice, Joanna is able to lower the ships shields and allow Elvis and a few Maian warriors onboard for assistance. After destroying the ships engines in a massive explosion, Joanna and Elvis proceed to take over the ship. They encounter heavy Skedar resistance, but make it to the control room and take out the captain. This however made the already finatical Skedar furious. They ruthlessly poured into the control room in an attempt to eliminate Joanna and Elvis. But they were running straight down Joanna and Elvis' gun barrals. Once the ship was in their control, Elvis and Joanna discovered that they were only a short distance from the Skedar home planet. The home planet is the source of their religion as it is considered holy ground. Elvis knows that if the planet is destroyed, the Skedar will be demorolised and the war will finally be over. With this in mind, he boards a Skedar carrier and flies down to the surface with Joanna. He then drops off Joanna who has been given the task of getting to the core of the Skedar battle shrine and eliminating the leader before the Maian war fleet can bombard the site. Joanna makes her way through the twisted maze of ruins and finally gets into the complex of the shrine. There she comes across a Skedar army in suspended animation. Her presence actuvates the tanks, and releases a mini-army of Skedar on Joanna. After heavy resistance, Joanna makes her way to the throne room of the shrine where she is confronted by the Skedar leader. She attempts to eliminate him, but he has an impenitrable force-field protecting him. Joanna is forced to think quickly as the Skedar King starts firing rockets. Joanna shoots down the huge crystal shrine behind the King, and, as she had hoped, the largest shard fell onto the King stabbing straight through him. Before Joanna can celebrate, she hears the sound of the Maian fleet leveling the shrine. She is left with not enough time to escape, and is trapped under the rubble. Elvis convinces the Maians to halt the bombardment until he has found Joanna, and so he begins to search through the wreckage. He finds her half pinned under a huge slab. Underneath that slab is a Skedar warrior holding onto Joanna's foot. She quickly grabs Elvis' gun and pursuades the Skedar to let go by firing of a few rounds into the creatures head. They then leave the planet while the Maian fleet continue to bombard the Skedar planet. |
