Matthews Racing w/ Team Jesus is back on-line, I wish to appologize to all those who tried to contact us while we were gone, I WILL try to contact each and every one of you. If I do miss you, I'm sorry and please accept my appology.
We started racing mowers in 1999, where we took a second place trophy in our first race ever. In 2000, we raced in Harrisburg, PA., we got a DNF (did not finish) due to a minor accident. In 2001, we took 4th place in over-all points for the WNYLMRA (Western NY Lawn Mower Racing Assc.).
2002 was my "Year from Hell". My marriage fell apart which resulted in losing the workshop, 'puter, and build crew. We (I) raced in Hamburg, NY in an exhibition race, appeared on local TV twice, but blew the rebuilt engine on the second day. We (my crew chief-8 year old son & me) got a new motor man from J & P Small Engine Repair, in Great Valley, NY who had us flying! Unfortunately, we wrecked in the next race rolling the #67 6 to 8 time, bending the sheetmetal, and rear axle. We got it together after some serious money scrounging, but then the new motor man wrecked his Harley and was out for 3 weeks, then I crushed my right hand which put an end to our season and possibly my racing career, but that remains to be seen. This is also the first year in 4 that we did not appear in the Falling Leaves Festival Parade in Salamanca, NY.
Our racing may be on hold but our spirit is not, we have hopes of relocating soon and gain another workshop. I can only ask that you keep the faith, if you are a fan, stick with us, one way or another, we WILL be back. Thank you for your support, sign our guest book and let us know how you are doing.
