| Slinky and Stretch were rescued from horse stables by a very kind and sweet person. They were born in a big feral cat colony and had probably lost their mother because they were very hungry and weak. When food was offered to them Stretch was so weak he could not move to get it. The lady who rescued them fed them and nursed them back to life. Slinky and Stretch are the remaining of the five kitties, the others got adopted. Both are shy and still fearful of noise and sudden movements, something that feral cats share. They are very bonded, Slinky relies completely on Stretch for clues on who to trust and he protects her with such a courage that it makes one wonder. After I took them in as foster cats it took them about a month to come around and feel safe in my presence. It took them almost two month to leave the room where they were to go downstairs and explore the rest of the house, that is how shy they are. Now they are both lap cats, Slinky is very vocal, she has a beautiful voice and very sweet demeanor. Stretch is a nag and will do anything to get your attention. Food is his priority number one in life though - I think he never forgot what hunger felt like. Here is what Slinky has to say: My name is Slinky and this is my brother Stretch. A very compassionate human rescued us and saved us from starvation when we were very little. Now we live with another nice human but we need a home to call our own. My brother Stretch protects me and makes me feel safe and I love him very much. He is beautiful and his bushy tail fascinates every one. He loves to be the center of attention and he is very talkative. I, on the other hand am very shy and take my time to get to know strangers and if my brother says that it is OK and safe I will come around and chat with you and ask you to pet me and scratch my belly. My brother also likes his belly scratched and when you do that he will stretch, hence his name; I like stretching too but my specialty is to slide down the stairs when you are petting me, just like a toy called slinky, hence my name. I will usually wait for you at the top of the stairs and flip on my side when you come around and start sliding down. But Ill do that only when I get to know you real well, because I am so shy and want to make sure that it is safe to be a goof. Anyways, we are a couple of very sweet cats and we sure will make you smile a lot because we are very goofy and playful. We are very easy going and happy cats; we get along with everyone who is kind to us. BACK |
