Every ending means a new beginning and that was what happened after Spike
passed away in November of 1999. I did not want to have pets for a while, especially cats. I did not want to look for a substitute for Spike. But life has mysterious ways and one of my co-worker's cat gave birth to three kitties in February of 2000. The girl was adopted right away, but the two boys were harder to find homes for. For some reason people think that male cats are more trouble than female.
When I spoke to her about adopting the two kitties she told me that now her mom wanted to keep one of them. I refused to take one, it was both of them or none. The next day I had my kitties.

I still wonder some times which one they wanted to keep, I never asked!!!

Well, I brought Joe and Seafore home on May 2, 2000, just one day after moving into
a new house. The first thing they did was to sit in their litter box for a while,
I guess to make it theirs or something. Joe played with a furry ball attached to a spring
for hours until he was out of breath while Seafore ate non-stop. I became their new mom, they licked my ears and nose at night and gave me love bites, which hurt a lot, but I did not complain.

What makes my cats so unique and fun is that they are completely different:
physically and temperamentally. Joe and Seafore have different dads because female
cats can get pregnant from different males at the same time, Joe is a Yellow Tabby and Seafore is a Tuxedo Cat.

As a baby Joe was fat with short skinny legs and could not jump at all and Seafore was skinny with big paws, a fearless jumper and explorer.
So exploring was his nature that one day he managed to open the screen of the patio door
and him and Joe went exploring outside. Since then we have to keep a wooden bar wedged so that he does not try to go exploring again.

As the boys grew their bodies and temperaments changed, Joe suddenly became the slim one, who demands attention and food with very loud meows and Seafore is the fat one who just waits for his brother to do all the yelling and when food is served he is the first one to eat it. Joe is the dominant - I think cat, he protects the territory, however if he cries our fearless Seafore runs to his rescue.

It might seem that my kitties have a very uneventful life but cats like stability and
routine, they like peaceful existence and we are happy to offer it to them.
