Anyway, here are the reasons that we came up with:
Buffy was easier to relate to. Ok, yes, she still fought vamps and demons, but the issues she dealt with personally, some of them still hit close to home and you could really share her emotions.
Angel was there.
Spike was still evil in those seasons. I LOVE Spike from season 2. He was so funny, and just... cool. He was evil, and English, and just a bastard to everyone.
Drusilla was there. She was so cool, the way she spoke and what she said, her dresses, her evilness, it was all good. She provided a nice contrast to Spike.
Dawn wasn't there. I don't think I have to elaborate on this point, and I'm not going to here, I'm gonna put up a page about why I hate some of the newer characters.
The storylines, while still outlandish, were still quite possible to imagine happening.
They were funnier. New Buffy is all, "oh let's all get a tissue, I'm so sad". Season 2 and 3 touched on some emotive episodes, but that's it. They were just episodes, not long sagas throughout the season. *Cough*SEASON6*Cough*.
Giles and Xander still had a purpose. They weren't just hanging around.
Giles was still a regular.
All the best things happened in the first 3 seasons. Let's recap, shall we?:
Darla died.
The Master killed Buffy... providing something for her to deal with.
Angel was there.
Giles was very stuffy anf uptight.
Angel started appearing more.
Cordelia was there to make conflict.
Angel and Buffy.
Angel was evil, more conflict.
Oz appeared.
Willow and Oz. Awww.
Jenny was killed.
Oz was a werewolf.
Spike and Dru were the main vamps around.
Kendra came.
Cordy and Xander... that was just funny.
Kendra died, which was quite sad. I liked her.
Angel went to Hell.
Buffy ran away and came back.
Angel came back.
Faith appeared.
Faith and Buffy were friends.
Willow got jealous.
Giles stopped being so English.
Willow started to explore the magic, without going overboard.
Wesley came, and annoyed everyone. It was funny.
Faith and Buffy killed that man.
Faith went evil.
Angel pretended he was evil.
Angel broke up with Buffy, but turned up in a tux. *Drools*
Buffy and Faith's fight.
Willow and Oz had sex. Pre lesbian Willow. I like her better with Oz than with Tara. Tara annoyed me.
Graduation.
See all this cool stuff happened. I admit, I tried watching season 4, in hopes it would get better, but the only thing Joss did right in that season was waking Faith up for some kick arse episodes. Only 2 though, which sucked, but they were the only good thing about season 4.
Buffy was still unsure of her full capacity. You notice in season 4 and 5, she got very... "I can do anything".
