| The Dawn of Slasherphiles A story of Homo-Erotic Evolution Slasherphiles grew from a conversation fabricated to pass the time on the bus whilst travelling to a geography cruise in Sydney Harbour. Bizarre, but that was a long bus trip. In an in-depth discussion about Buffy and Angel we somehow got around to discussing that if all vampires are sexually adventurous, and Spike and Angel lived together, they probably slept together tooyes we came up with that conclusion, like I said, long bus trip. Anyhoo, after uncountable discussions of this subject, while on ICQ one night, Ness decided to look upon a search engine, probably Yahoo, to see if anyone else out in cyber land had also had the idea that Spike and Angel were lovers. How naive we were, to truly believe we were the one of the only ones out there. (shakes head in disbelief) Ness found a site called Our Armageddon, and looked at the fic there. The first Angel/Spike slash story we ever read was To Sire, With Love by Avarice. We read slash fiction for about a year until after last term of Yr 11, when we had an extensive amount of time on our hands and nothing to do with it. To relieve boredom, Inca jumped on Geocities and made a website, showed it to Ness, who showed Inca her own website and one of us suggested they combine their website making prowess make a website of such brilliance that it could blind people with its perfection. Once realising that was impossible, and that Incas skills with website creation were reproachable, we settled on a simply outstanding website and Slasherphiles was born. Apparently forgetting to write down the creation date of Slasherphiles, Inca and Ness have decided on the closest approximation- 17th Dec 2002. The name Slasherphiles came after debate. As in Necrophile, Audiophile, the suffix phile, suggests a strong affinity or preferance for the prefix, in this case Slash. Eg We have a strong affinity for Slash. Clever, huh? Well for two plucky teenagers just out of 11th grade its pretty fucking great. Our first stories up and readable, Incas being a shy fic involving vampire smut, ice cream, and a very long title, I wont be here when you wake up, and Nessas short, sweet, I think Im in love, the fiction part of the site was ready to goexcept we both didnt realise how hard it was to write stories and kind of procrastinated about it. As you may have noticed, Ness seems more into the idea of the slash. Shes content to make layouts, poems, draw on photos of characters from Buffy and Angel, make fantastic layouts (version 2.0 and 2.1) and backgrounds, sign up for web rings, and rant on her section than actually write slash stories, so thank her for professional, brimming with odds and ends look of our site. Thank you. If it were up to Inca, it would be a black background with some links and a small typed section on how its content not carton that makes a site. (when really, shes just lazy) Incas more into actual slash, and the community surrounding it, and shes happy writing to countless authors to ask for permission to post on the ever-growing archive, and writing her own stories than to do anything about the site except oohh and ahhh over Nessas creations. See? Ness and Inca combined make the perfect webmistress. So thats the story. Interesting, huh? One more thing, anyone who helped our site, or contributes to it, or visits it, and takes the time to read articles we fill it with like this one, just think about that wheel of Karma and how much it must be turning in your direction for the better. Thankyou, and goodnight. (or whatever time it happens to be at the moment) |
