Day 7: Around Yellowstone |

We spent the day at Yellowstone. Started with a guided tour of the terraces at Mammoth Springs (the birthplace of Taq polymerase!). Rode through the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Visited the volcanic pots. Perfect day. |

Volcanic Mudpots. Sulfurous vents, bubbling clay. Yellowstone erupts over a 40 mile radius every 600,000 years. It's 30,000 years overdue. Last time it erupted, the Earth was dark for six years. The eruption will probably start here. |
