Step One: Deflate

Remove the valve core. This is the fastest way to deflate the tire, and it will allow air to escape while you are breaking the bead.

Step Two: Break the Beads

Lubricate the bead area with soapy water, then break the bead. Using a rim protector is a good idea here. After popping the bead, push the bead out of the bead seat around the entire circumference of the tire (you can do this by hand). Then flip the rim over and do the other side.
