| There has been an error. It's of the type we call fatal. Please don't be scared. You're not the one that's going to die. Okay, where the $$&#&(@#& are the developers? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Since I will be leaving in 2 weeks' time, I thought I should do a (very!) brief tribute to my job. Like a montage of all the stoooopid stuff people do and say and what I have to put up with. Skyzy88: hahahahahahahahaha Skyzy88: listen to this: guy on phone, reading code to me Skyzy88: "s as in sam, k, y as in...jelly" Turtlelan1: my favorite is when people say "y as in....you" Operating system: Mac OS XP Computer processor type: microsoft word 2000 Browser type & version: InterNetscape Modem speed: 56T1 I am so happy to be leaving. I hate my job. I hate having to do all the work and get none of the appreciation but all of the blame. How can I be a martyr if noone see me do it? Joan of Arc never had this problem. But she also got her ass fired in the worst way. |

| Yeah, that error again. Sorry. Curse a little, do a ritual with a chicken, then try again. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| There was context. It sacrificed itself to create a better world. Turtlelan1: what about - "I am including a shot screen of the error message" Turtlelan1: is it correct what i wrote? sometimes things sound weird to me, i dont know if it is correct or not Skyzy88: it's "Screen shot" Turtlelan1: i totally spit on my desk now laughing Turtlelan1: shot screen Turtlelan1: i thought of i had a gun and i was shooting the computer screen Skyzy88: damn Skyzy88: i can't stop laughing Turtlelan1: ha Turtlelan1: it was funnyyyy And some more fun with the foreigners: Ninja: I have the hardest time sleeping. Turtlelan1: You should try counting ships. Skyzy88: ships...????? OrigTurtle: chips. that's what it is, you count chips? Skyzy88: CHIPS?!?!?!?!?! Skyzy88: Oh...SHEEP! I mean, you can take a concept like 'that feeling you get, when you lean back in your chair, and you lean back just a little too far and overbalance, and you catch yourself just in time', and find that the Germans have a single word for it. And that it translates the original phrase exactly, only with the spaces missing. But, in English, too many words. |

| I am the Queen of Lazy-Ass Lazy Asses today. All bow before me. Or whatever, it's not like I can be bothered to do anything about it, anyway. So, I digress. Allow me to continue on about my soul-sucking job. The worst though is when you can't understand the people on the phone. I'm one of those Americans who tries to avoid the d'ing of the t's, but it does make people think I'm either affected, Canadian, or high. But, could it be that the reason the Canadians are missing so many vowels is that Boston kidnapped them and won't let them go? Of course, New Jersey takes letters from one word and puts them in another. Like "pahk the cah" vs. "warshing machine" Speaking of which, I take it there never was an answer as to what happen to the "i" in "aluminium" as it crossed the Atlantic? Well, actually, that's easy, the same thing that happened to the u in humour. The colonists simply didn't take well to vowel movements. Ba-da-bum. I'm sure I had a point, but it seems to have wondered off to find its One True Pencil. In other news, did you ever send an email and then immediately think, "Hmmm...I probably shouldn't have done that?" |

| I used to be all Work Ethic Person, giving that 110% effort, blah blah dedication-cakes. Fast forward a few years working in corporate America. I now slink around at work hiding in the shadows, no longer particularly punctual and only randomly productive. If the boss wants to find me, he has to resort to luring me out of my den with donuts, standing well out of reach, because even middle-management can tell I'm feral. I get even worse when it's time for the home office to send in the goons who'll jump me in the shower again, 'cause I've been shanked so damn much that I've lost count. I write porn at work now, and am very put out when they interrupt me with these ridiculous requests to fix computers. |
