1977-80 Mazda 323

The 323 was introduced by Mazda Motor Corporation in the 1977. This was the very first model of the 323 series. It belonged to fourth generation of the existing Mazda Familia. The 323 was known to be as Mazda Familia in the Japan, however in the USA, it was known to be as Mazda GLC. GLC stands for Great Looking Car. Indeed this was a great looking Car, better looking than the comparable Toyota Corollas at that time.

These rare wheel vehicles were offered as Hatchbacks and Wagons (Estate Cars). The interior was quite simple. The Standard cars were not offered with any accessory. However the Deluxe versions were equipped with Heater, AM Radio, Clock, Seat Belts, Rear Defroster, HB Opener and Rare Wipers. The Sports and Two door versions of the car were further equipped with Tachometer, Head lamp washers and Radial Tires. Features like Air-Conditioner, Power Windows, Power Locking and Stereo system were never offered in this Car.

 

Model Line-Up

 

Model FA4TS (1300) FA4US (1400). Offered as a 3 door & 5 door Hatchback. These models were available during the period March 1977 - May 1979. The head lights were in round shape. The bumpers were of Stainless Steel with Black Plastic Ends.

 

Model: FA4US. Offered as a 3 door & 5 door Hatchback. Appeared during the period June1979 - Sept 1980. This model had rectangular headlights.

 

Model: FA4UV 323 Deluxe Station Wagon. These wagons were available during the years July 1978 - June 1981. The round headlights were changed to rectangular from June 1979 and on onwards. This car was kept in to production till 1981.
