The small corpse of trees that was the point at with Lee wanted Pickett to advance to and take- The Union troops were lined up behind a stone wall called "The Angle"  at this point...it was the center of the Union's line and the part that  Lee thought was the most vulnerable.

You can see in the distance ( centered) the statue that is Virginia's Memorial and the point at which Lee watched the battle unfold.
